Its Massachusetts plumbing licence is active at the state registry under the company's own name, and the website says there is no weekend surcharge. The sequence customers describe is the same one over and over: a call, a price quoted on the spot, a visit that day or the next. Price comes up constantly. An April 2025 customer said competing quotes were nearly double. A December 2023 customer said Coastal was the only one that would not charge for an estimate, and that the estimate did not move. A March 2026 customer who works in home repair themselves pulled several quotes and found Ken's the most reasonable. When a newly installed heater leaked in December 2023, they brought another one out the next day. The complaints are about the calendar rather than the pipes. A December 2023 customer hired Ken to replace condo water shut-offs, confirmed the appointment by text and by phone, was told on the day that he would be late, and then heard nothing until they chased him. A January 2023 reviewer liked the work and the responsiveness but docked a star for an hour's lateness. A November 2022 customer, quoted $1,800 to move a toilet across a bathroom because it was a full day's work, wrote the job up at one star. The two platforms disagree on the whole: 4.9 across 233 HomeAdvisor ratings, 4.2 across 23 on Google, where most of the written complaints sit. For a water heater, a gas boiler or gas piping - especially the kind you need done this week - this is a two-man shop that answers its own phone and quotes before it drives out. Confirm the arrival window the day before, because that is exactly where it slipped for the customers who were unhappy.
