A fenced space for the dogs became a carefully planned project for one recent Collegiate Landscaping customer. In an October 2026 review, the homeowner said general manager Devin McKim spent hours developing the design, visiting suppliers and consulting their arborist before accepting money, then performed the work himself. The Glastonbury company also handles recurring lawn care and landscape projects. Google shows 4.3 stars from 71 ratings; Angi shows the same average from 25. Recent customers praise responsive lawn service and pricing. A June 2026 reviewer said the crew helped remove a small tree blown over during spring cleanup. In July 2025, another homeowner described expanding a spring cleanup into garden-bed work with mulch, edging, pruning and seasonal flowers. A separate July 2025 customer said they had used Collegiate for three years and praised punctuality and the lawn’s appearance. The company’s Connecticut home improvement contractor registration is active. Other homeowners describe work and follow-up problems. A May 2025 reviewer said a $3,000 front-lawn replacement undertaken in fall 2024 had become mostly weeds by spring and that calls and emails seeking help went unanswered. A July 2025 reviewer described sloppy, incomplete work, dismissive responses, invoices and late fees. A June 2024 customer said paid-for trimming was omitted and a promised return had not happened after five days. One October 2026 reviewer called the company unreliable. Older complaints include disputed damage and unfinished work. In June 2022, a customer said eleven trees from a summer 2021 planting project died within six months and described months of unsuccessful follow-up. An April 2021 Angi reviewer said hydrangeas were mowed down despite instructions to leave them alone and described a dispute over replacement and proof of the loss. A May 2018 reviewer said arborvitae removal remained unfinished, requiring another contractor to remove the stumps after months of delay. A June 2020 customer praised the portion of lawn that was cut but said an unannounced visit left the back lawn inaccessible and a promised follow-up did not occur. Even a positive October 2016 walkway review described crew communication problems that left the customer without some expected options.

We wanted a secure space so that our dogs could go outside directly from our family room instead of having to trek down to the basement hatchway several times a day to reach another area of our yard. We didn’t know exactly what we wanted, but knew that we had to have some kind of new fencing with gates. We contacted a few landscaping businesses. Fortunately for us, one of those businesses was Collegiate Landscaping and its General Manager, Mr. Devin McKim. Devin devoted countless hours to getting the plans to be just right for us, making several phone calls and visits to suppliers, even consulting with our arborist because a tree was involved, before accepting any money. Once work began, we discovered that the project was Devin’s own. He did all the work by himself. He was meticulous. Hour after hour after hour, never in a hurry, always with attention to every detail. Amazing! We highly recommend Collegiate Landscaping and will not hesitate to call on them regarding future work.
