When a broken wellhead left one family without water in the snow, Thompson Landscape Improvement came out with a small tractor and Matt dug for hours, a 2026 customer wrote. That customer, who had moved from Texas to a long-neglected property, said the company also cut down trees, hauled away trash, overseeded the yard and shoveled snow. The company says it has served commercial and residential properties across the Greater Hartford area for 40 years, and its website lists Glastonbury, Hartford, Bolton, Manchester, Marlborough and Hebron among the towns it serves. On Google it holds 4.6 stars from 41 ratings. A 2026 customer said the company did extensive hardscaping and plant removal, and that Dave talked through every detail of the design and materials. In that 2026 review, the customer added that a bluestone paver on the walkway settled because of mole activity and the company fixed it without charge. A 2026 customer said the company was respectful of the budget and met the goals within the timeframe originally set out on a backyard patio project. A 2022 customer said Katie and Dave removed an old wooden deck and replaced it with a stone patio, along with an outdoor bar and a fire pit. A 2024 customer said the company addressed years of water pooling after rainstorms, and that Tyler graded a badly pitched area so it drained away from the center of the yard. A 2025 customer said Sam's crew cleared overgrown plants and shrubs and created a stone hardscape around a tree out front. A 2024 customer who called Sam about sprinkler heads said his crew trimmed, weeded and mulched an overgrown yard. A 2023 customer said that after a tree fell on their fence in a windstorm, Dave came out to double-check the measurements and contacted the insurer about covering the full extent of the damage; that customer said the fence looked better than before. A recent customer is happy with a new wall and credited the company with suggesting the lights. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0560367, is active on the state registry under THOMPSON LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENT INC. A 2024 reviewer said the company promised twice to come look at the property, never showed up and did not return phone calls.
You guys did a fantastic job! We love our new wall. The lights were a great suggestion. Thanks for doing a great job!
We moved from Texas, so we were unaccustomed to living in a state with four seasons. We also moved to a home with a large property that had not been tended for many years. Our new neighbors told us that the old owners mowed their lawn twice a year, whether it needed it or not. That is not a joke. The side yard of the property was used as basically a trash heap. We found toilets and cones and drums and broken down bits of who knows what. I mean a lot of of it. The trees were overgrown and they were going to eventually do damage once they got too heavy from the snow or wind. A friend of ours, here in Glastonbury, recommended Thompson Landscaping. I cannot say enough about how much they have done for us. They have welcomed us like family members and have taught us how to live in at least summer, fall and winter seasons with property like we have. They have come over regularly to see how we’re doing, make suggestions about things we may not have considered, to pick up trash, to cut down trees, to take out old plants/overgrowth/vines, haul away all that trash, to cut down dying plants/shrubs/bushes, to cut back neglected plants so that they regrow, to overseed the yard, which grew beautifully, to shovel snow, to take away all of the leaves during the fall, to lay down large amounts of mulch, to provide us with firewood, to check our outdoor plumbing (drains), to mow the lawn…but the most important was the day that our wellhead broke. The power went out for two hours, and when it came back on, we had no water. It began to snow and we tried to fix it ourselves. I called Thompson Landscaping and they came out immediately with a small tractor. Matt dug for hours and hours in the snow with a good attitude and a smile. Thompson Landscaping called all their friends and business associates and people who weren’t even working anymore to come and help us figure out how to reach our well head, repair it and then bring it above ground. *Nod to Glastonbury Water Systems and Staven’s Drilling (thank you!)* They treated us like family. They have always treated us like family, and because of that we will stay with them. Their prices are fair. Their staff is nice and knowledgeable. They are always available to us, and I simply cannot say enough about them. If you’re looking to work with real people who care about you and your home then work with Thompson Landscape. We plan on doing lots and lots more work with Thompson as the years go by. We have big plans from the driveway, to the front patio and walkway, to build a deck in the back, to redo the backyard and planting trees/pulling out trees and who knows what else. We look forward to it. Thank you Sam, Matt and all of you at Thompson Landscape!! I am posting a few pictures here. The junkie pictures are when we moved in and there are pictures that show progress. Some of the pictures don’t show the grass as beautifully as it came out, but maybe I’ll post those again when the spring comes.
The Thompson team did extensive hardscaping and plant removal work on our property last spring and we couldn’t have been happier. Every person we met on their team was extremely nice and happy to answer any questions we had about the work they were doing. Dave talked through every detail of the project with us and helped us make informed decisions about the design and materials we used. Bryan was at our house frequently to work on hardscaping and we always looked forward to having a quick chat with him when he was there. We are very happy with the final product and loved using the new back patio this past summer. When a bluestone paver on our walkway started to settle this past fall because of mole activity the Thompson team quickly came out and fixed the issue without charge. We really appreciate their responsiveness to this and their excellent work with the project overall.
Thompson Landscaping has been wonderful to work with over the years. From big projects to small ones, I have been given the same attention and respect. At Thompson Landscaping, I started planning a small project that turned out to be a big project that took place in the summer of 2025. They were respectful of my budget and accomplished my goals within the timeframe originally set out. I could not have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff was professional, attentive and meticulous. They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the end result. I am a perfectionist myself and it was always appreciated how the staff took care of the small details. Also, I have to acknowledge the experienced staff that always came to work with a smile regardless of the weather conditions. In the end, I give them my highest recommendation because my experience was top notch. My backyard patio came out amazing, and the experience was seamless with Thompson Landscaping.
