Colony Rug does the whole chain on a carpet job: supplies the material, fabricates it in its own workroom, and sends its own crews to install it. The company says it is family owned and operated with roots going back to 1904, working out of Hingham and covering New England, the Islands and the Eastern seaboard. One thing to settle before you call: the Hingham location is open to the trade only, by appointment. If you're a homeowner, that likely means reaching them through your designer, builder or another contractor rather than walking in — though the company also describes serving retail clients alongside trade ones. The workroom is the differentiator. Beyond selling carpet and hand-knotted and hand-loomed rugs, they do cut-to-fit custom fabrication with room templating, and will bind or fabricate material bought somewhere else — useful if you have a rug or remnant you want turned into something for a specific room. What's public about the actual work is slim: five Google ratings averaging 5★ and a single written account, so there isn't enough to judge how the crews perform day to day. A reasonable call if you want carpet or a custom rug fabricated and installed by the same outfit rather than buying material one place and hiring labor another. Confirm whether they'll work with you directly or need a trade contact, and get the fabrication and installation scope in writing before you order.

We had a terrible installation of all our common area hallways a year ago and Colony Rug came to the rescue big time this past week! After a year of carpet showing seams, wear and tear well above the norm, we're so happy with the work they provided!<br>I can't understate how hardworking their installation team were and how they truly cared about our property and making things look the very best. The crew seemed like genuine humans working hard for a company they enjoyed being a part of. Josh, the team supervisor was very knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. We even left the property for a couple of days for a conference in Portland, and trusted them completely to care for the property and do the job they came here for. Cannot recommend strongly enough!
