Connecticut Cooling & Heating says on its own website that it specializes in heating, air conditioning and water heater services, led by technician Paul Snyde, and it lists Hartford, Bloomfield, Farmington, Avon and Simsbury as its service area. Its Connecticut HVAC licence, HTG.0389753-D1, is active on the state registry, held by Connecticut Cooling & Heating, Inc. On Google it holds 4.5 stars from 24 ratings. A recent customer called an installation professional and the price reasonable. A 2025 customer said Paul H arrived on time and, within 20 minutes of arrival, diagnosed and replaced a faulty capacitor on a central air conditioner. A 2024 customer said their old AC died and needed replacement, a tough job in the crawl space above the third floor of a 100-year-old home, and that the company did the job in sweltering heat at a competitive price. A 2025 customer with no heat from a gas-fired condensing furnace said the technician removed and replaced a bad draft inducer. A 2025 customer wrote that the company had been helping them for 20 years. A recent customer who asked for a price said a technician quoted $818, then came back saying the boss said it had to be closer to $900; that customer did not hire the company. A 2024 customer alleged poor customer service and predatory billing, and a 2023 customer called the company overpriced.
Was very disappointed. After reading great reviews and speaking with the owner, who was very responsive and seemed very knowledgeable, we scheduled to get a quote. Technician seemed knowledgeable also. So we decided to go ahead and asked for a price. The tech went to his van, presumably to check with the office. He came back with a price ($818) and I agreed to it. He said he could do the work right away and would be back after picking up the needed parts. Minutes later the tech returned, saying the boss said the price "had to be higher, closer to $900". I was stunned. I had agreed to the original price. He told me to call the office, which I did. When I spoke with the office and owner, I was told the tech "left out a part". I said that didn't seem like the right way to do business, to change prices AFTER you present one and it is accepted. THEN the owner told me he knew I had been quoted almost $950 by a different company (which I had foolishly told the tech), so I asked "is that how you base your price? on what another company charges??" He offered no detail about the "left out" part, didn't even apologize for the "miscommunication" of the price (which certainly seemed sleazy). We opted to NOT go with Connecticut Cooling & Heating.
Installation was very professional !! Reasonable price ! Very happy!!!
I had CT Cooling and Heating do maintenance on my central air conditioner today. It was a great experience especially since Paul is a knowledgeable person. He was patient and explained everything to me that needed to be done. He's a great employee of CT Cooling & Heating. I will definitely call them for future maintenance and any repairs by Paul and/or purchases. CT Cooling and Heating is a great company and they are lucky to have such a great employee such as Paul.
Everyone involved in servicing my heating system was great to work with, very knowledgeable and very price friendly. I would recommend them to anyone.
Just had service done by Bryon, one of Paul's technicians. He was extremely knowledgeable of his trade, a consummate professional. Having spent 45 years in electrical you can see when someone knows and really understands their trade. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Connecticut Cooling & Heating!
