A 2025 customer wrote that John's Plumbing did an oil to natural gas conversion at their home in 2018, removing an old boiler, oil tank, water heater and expansion tanks, and said the family of six gained basement space and did not run out of hot water. A 2023 customer who used the company to convert from oil heating to gas said a number of delays from the city followed, that John never wavered on the price, and that when it finally came time to convert, he and Garth refused to call it quits until every radiator was giving off heat. A 2022 customer said Stevie and Garth installed a new combi boiler, removing the old furnace, water heater and oil tank in a day and a half, then vacuumed and mopped the basement floor; that customer said John, the owner, checked in during the work and touched base after it. A 2022 customer who had one unit converted from electric heat to natural gas with a combi boiler, and a water heater moved from the third floor to the basement, said the work was completed on time. A 2021 customer said they contacted the company on a Tuesday, got a quote on Wednesday and had a new hot water heater installed, with the old unit removed, in under two hours. BuildZoom shows 518 projects for the company. A 2024 customer, writing in Spanish, said their boiler had problems from the first months, calls to the office were never returned, and the family had gone a week without hot water or heat; the same customer said the workers themselves had been responsible. A 2022 customer who used the company to fix a heating issue said the heat still did not turn off when it was supposed to, and that a year and several calls later they had not gotten a call back. A 2022 customer said the company never showed up when promised and did sloppy work installing a water heater, leaving a mess around it. A 2021 customer said a boiler John installed in an oil-to-gas switch worked fine for a year and then stopped, that John did not respond to multiple attempts to reach him, and that another company did the repair. A 2023 customer called the company expensive. Connecticut lists its plumbing licence, PLM.0204180-P1, and its heating licence, HTG.0386228-S3, as inactive, both held by John A Givens.
We contracted John's Plumbing to do a oil to natural gas conversion at our home 12/2018. John did an absolutely wonderful job and was very attentive to our additional specific needs/wants in preparation for future add-ons. The conversion consisted of removal of very old/clunky/faulty boiler, oil tank, water heater, expansion tanks amongst some other misc. In return we gained a large footprint of space in our basement, a better location for our heating unit, much quieter (almost silent) heating system, amazing savings in our cost to heat our home and water. Lastly, we are a family of 6!!!.....and we do not run out of hot water! Great job John, keep up the good work! Thank you from the Acosta family!
Very Professional
John was great to work with. I used them to convert from oil heating to gas, and what followed was a number of delays from the city. But John stayed patient, helped when he could, and never wavered on the price, which was significantly lower than anyone else would quote us. When it finally came time to convert, he and Garth did great work, refusing to call it quits until they ensured every radiator was giving off heat. This was a truly excellent value for the work provided.
Expensive!
