Connors Brothers Moving & Storage says it has been in business for 80 years, and its website describes summer storage for college students kept in Berkshire County, at a flat rate of $725 for May through September. A local news site has described its workers helping load donated, unused medical equipment onto two trucks. A recent customer said a move planned for one day ran to two, that two more employees came by the end of the day, more than doubling the original estimate, and that quite a few items never made it to the new apartment. A 2025 customer handling a late parent's belongings in storage said a $600 labor quote turned into a $1,300 charge with no warning, and that collecting the items from the company's Adams warehouse was quoted at $292.50 per hour. A 2025 customer who called on a Monday for help loading a 40 ft container the following Monday said Chris and Evan arrived right on time and asked appropriate questions. A 2024 customer said a desk, a bureau, a cedar chest, a rocking chair and an antique mirror were chipped, scratched or broken in a move, and that a bunch of boxes went missing. A 2023 customer said no one was there despite an open sign on the door. A 2022 customer said their former college had the company clear out their room, that items were missing when they picked up their belongings, and that a response took several months.
“The unused medical equipment, loaded on to two trucks Monday afternoon with the help of volunteers and workers from Connors Brothers Moving & Storage, is finding a new home where it can be used again after Dr. Robert A. Micley, of North Adams, set out to coordinate the donation.”
My move was originally for 1 day, then 2...during which I was without furniture @ the new place as they kept my belongings overnight...the following morning they proceeded to load tools etc. that were already outside...before the end if day there were 2 more employees, more than doubling the original estimate...also, quite a few items never made it to my new apartment...4 season Enterprise DVD series, a campfire grill with rotisserie, reciprocating saw, solar radio & solar charger,...other incidentals like control wands, pillow case I presume was there shopping bag...no apologies, no attempt to make right just complaints about how things were packed thought no extra boxes were supplied by them or needed...I used them last time with absolutely no complaints; however, this time was enough for me to decide never to use their services again; I'm already inquiring for a future move in a year or so...Makes me sick knowing how hard it was for me to aquire many of these items just for them to go missing & from a company in a town that I know is mostly College & rich people, as I went to Mt.G.R.H.S.; furthermore, if they're "bonded", I believe they should lose it because of this incident...it's likely a repeating pattern.
DO NOT USE THIS DECEITFUL COMPANY. When my parents passed, I had to coordinate consolidating their items that were in Connor Bros storage. The company contact, A., neglected to share that the long standing agreement of how my parents accessed their items for over 7 years changed to a "full service warehouse" with restricted access. Here are the facts: *When consolidating my parents' items, she said it would be $600 for the labor (fair and approved by me) but then charged me $1300 with no warning and no approval or even an invoice breaking out the charges. I paid this under duress. *When A. shifted all items to their Adams warehouse, I then had to coordinate a time to get access to the items which is fine except all the times I asked for during normal business hours were "unavailable" over and over again. *In order to get my items from the Adams warehouse, I was informed I would be charged $292.50 per hour for their staff to collect all items so I could get access to them. *I was then told I could come pick up a few items (not all) as long as all invoices were paid in full but not all invoices, at that point, had been sent to me, so I had to bring this to their attention. *I was expected to leave their outside storage units very clean which seems reasonable until I looked into one of them and found take out food and more had been thrown in there and there were mouse droppings everywhere. Disgusting and toxic to clean! This was a rough experience where the final blows by Connor Brothers took place only 2 weeks after my mom passed. For the sake of helping yourself and your family, please never use this unethical company that is not focused on solutions for the customer but rather leans into their own self interests. I am not the first to write a bad review and I am sure I won't be the last. Not once did I feel they were on my side as I tried to work through my parent's things.
I am so grateful to Connors Brothers. I called them on a Monday looking for help loading a 40 ft container with our household items the following Monday. No fuss, no muss - the were able to send people and provided a ramp as well. Chris and Evan arrived right on time, asked appropriate questions and proved to be expert, strong, steady - and had superb communication skills. I could not have been more impressed or more grateful!
I’ve moved a lot, and this was my worst move experience by far. Items chipped, deeply scratched or broken include my desk, my bureau, a cedar chest, a rocking chair, an antique mirror, a china cabinet, and a secretary desk. Not only that, but a bunch of boxes went missing. Ok, not a big deal that half my pantry items are gone, but so are pieces of kitchenware including a silver serving set. It is costing me a fortune to fix and replace all this. Avoid these guys
They tell you that they're open and someone's going to be there but no one's there. They have the open sign on the door but no one to be found
