A 2025 Google customer said they had Travis act as general contractor on an old duplex in Maine they had bought. That 2025 customer said the job ran on a bank loan, and that during the estimate Travis told them to "over exaggerate pricing on every line item" and assured them they would get money back on every line item; the arrangement was not in writing. The 2025 customer said no money came back on a single line item, giving the example of painters who charged 3500 against an 8000 line item, and wrote that Travis "effectively stole tens of thousands of dollars" from them. In the same 2025 review, the customer said Travis was rude, missed the deadline by 5 months and broke promises, and advised anyone who uses him to get everything in writing.
“Contractor: Cook's Custom Carpentry”
My wife and I were new to real estate. We bought an old duplex in Maine and had Travis be our general contractor. We used a bank loan and during the estimate Travis said to over exaggerate pricing on every line item as it was hard to get money from the bank after renovations started. He assured us we would get money back on every line item. We did not get this in writing. Travis did not give us any money back on a single line item. Meaning when the painters only charged 3500 and the line item was for 8000. We should have received money back after Travis took his 20% margin. This happened on every line item. Travis effectively stole tens of thousands of dollars from us. On top of this, he was extremely rude, missed the deadline by 5 months, and continually broke promises. Do not trust this guy. If you use him, then get everything in writing.
