Cornerstone Contractors describes itself on its website as a full service roofing contractor centrally located in Rhode Island, doing residential and commercial roofing from repairs to installs. The company says it has been in business 30 years. A 2018 customer with roof damage from storms and age said the crew worked 13 hours to get the roof done in 1 day. A 2018 customer with a small leak above a bay window said they were squeezed in before the next storm and the issue was fixed quickly. A 2023 customer said their house was sided in just a few days. A 2013 customer said the old roof needed 2 layers stripped and new sub roofing put on under it. A 2023 customer said William answered their many questions and brought shingle samples before the contract was signed, and that the job was done in about 3/4 of a day at a reasonable price. That 2023 customer also said they were charged more than quoted for a zinc strip, and had to reach out by phone, email and text multiple times for the final receipt and warranty information. A 2024 customer said black tar marks had to be cleaned off the driveway side of the house, where the debris trailer was placed. That 2024 customer said they told Ron they were withholding $360 from the final payment because his carpenter had done a very poor job replacing the front corner roof soffit. A 2014 customer said a new patch was put over an existing patch, and the roof leaked in three or four different areas the next time it rained. A 2013 customer who bought a $159 inspection deal said no electrical inspection was ever done and the promised quote never came.
“Not Cornerstone”
The overall project appeared to have proceeded well. They are the roofing experts, not me. So, I did not get in their way. I let them do what they had to do. At the end of project I had to bring to their attention that: ^the driveway side of my house, where the debris trailer was placed, had to be cleaned because there were black tar marks on it, * they also had to vacuum out the crawlspace and hallway where the roof access hatch is. * they also needed to remove debris from my front lawn, and sweep up the gravel and dust from my driveway and back yard, all which came from the rooftop at they were removing the old roof. I was at this time i told Ron I was withholding $360. from the final payment, because his carpenter had done a very poor job replacing the front corner roof soffit.
Before the contract was signed William was great. He answered all of our many questions and even brought some samples of shingles for my wife to see. He seemed to be patient with the questions but also wanted to get us on the books for timing reasons which is understandable. The work was reasonably priced and was done in a timely manner. They were able to get the job done in about 3/4 of a day which was nice. It seems to have been a job well done as we have not had any issues to date so hopefully that will continue going forward. We unfortunately had a miscommunication over the cost for a zinc strip where the quoted price was less than what I was eventually charged due to "material cost increase" over a couple weeks time. I was not happy with this but I understand with the current economy to a degree. Granted it was not a large difference in cost but I just wish it was communicated to us beforehand as we had a set budget for projects. Once the bill was paid it took a little while to get our final receipt and warranty information. I had to reach out by phone, email and text multiple times but William finally got back to us. Maybe it was a busy season or some other reason, it's possible but still should of been a response much sooner. I really liked William as he seemed to genuinely care but the lack of communication afterwards and delay was unfortunate. Overall I think they did a good job as we haven't had any issues to date. It was done in a timely manner for a reasonable price as well. Hopefully the communication improves going forward I also hope we won't need and future roofing work done for a long time if all goes well.
The work performed far exceeded my expectations for the asking price.
I can’t say how wonderful Cornerstone and their team is! Sided my house in just a few days and made it look beautiful 🤩
Great team, helped my father roof our barn. Everything from them was great!
