Sixty holes in the ceilings and walls, a flat still full of furniture and boxes of books, and an owner living in it while the work went on. That was the job a homeowner described in an October 2024 review of Cosmos Painting Company — the crew, led by a painter named Emil, patched all of it, vacuumed up and put the furniture back roughly where it had been, and the writer's verdict was one word: flawless. Cosmos works out of Marblehead and calls itself a second-generation family business. Its Houzz page runs to 4.9 across 90 ratings and 22 project galleries from Boston and Cambridge out to Weston, Winchester, Manchester-by-the-Sea and Brookline, with typical jobs quoted between $1,000 and $50,000. The work is residential painting in the fullest sense — interiors, exteriors, ceilings, plaster and drywall repair, cabinet refinishing and staining, decorative and door painting, colour consulting, wallpaper removal, deck staining and pressure washing. What runs through the reviews is prep and finish rather than speed. A December 2021 customer had high-gloss Farrow and Ball doors painted and noted there were no drips and no wrong brushstrokes — the hard part of that finish. An August 2021 homeowner had an old multi-colour Victorian exterior done by Lucien and Mario, and reported the price competitive and no extra costs beyond the small amount that had been flagged in advance. In November 2021 another described Jon breaking an estimate down not just room by room but by baseboard, wall and trim, then extending it across the whole house so the rest could be planned. The same names keep coming back across years — John or Jon estimating, Mario, Luis, Lucien and Emil on the crews — which is the shape of a real crew, not a batch of manufactured reviews. Two things are worth pinning down before you call. The written record has gone quiet: the newest customer comment on file is from October 2024, so the picture here is of 2021 to 2024 rather than of this year. And the licence is unresolved — Houzz prints a bare 'License Number 162139' with no type and no issuing body, and nothing here confirms it against the Massachusetts registry, so ask for the registration number directly and check it with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. The company's own tenure claim is unsettled too; its Porch page says 'over 35 years of experience' in one place and '48 years in business' in another. If you have a job where the surface matters more than the schedule — historic trim, a specialty finish, a plaster ceiling that needs repairing before it can be painted — this is the kind of shop the reviews describe. Confirm the licence and get the estimate itemised the way that 2021 customer did.

The Cosmos painting co. did a splendid job in rather difficult circumstances. The flat, after necessary re-wiring, was sporting close to 60 large holes in all the ceilings and walls. Also, I still stayed there midst the chaos, furniture and boxes of books. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning that all this can be seamlessly repaired and repainted. The crew that came, with Emil as the leader, was very calm, unfazed by what they saw and started working. All of the craftsmen were very skillful, polite and calm. All the holes were repaired and the place after all this was vacuumed and left clean. Afterwards I asked if they could put the furniture at least close to where it used to be. They were all very obliging and the result is a nice bright flat and you wouldn't know anything had happened. I highly recommend the Cosmos painting co. Flawless. The price for this rehab was fair, especially since I needed it to be done soon after I contacted them.

Cosmos did an incredible job for me. They painted a very large house and under two weeks with a very diligent, hard-working, considerate, clean, and talented group of people. I highly recommend Cosmos for any painting job.

Cosmos painted our entire second floor and the quality of work is "THE BEST". The crew was meticulous and we could not have been more pleased. Attention to detail from prep to finish was perfect.

I can't say enough about the professionalism of this company and the quality of their work. I have hired many painters in my life and they are by far the best. They are extremely focused on customer satisfaction and the entire team was a delight to work with. It's refreshing to work with a company that is so committed to excellence.

Cosmos did an awesome job painting the entire interior of our condo before we moved in! Completed in just a couple of days as stated. The owner John came out to do the estimate and the final cost was right in line with the estimate given. Everyone involved from the owner to his team were professional, efficient, and reliable, it was a pleasure working with them! Thanks John and Luis!
