Costas Hatzis Electric Inc.

Costas Hatzis is the electrician who came out in the blizzard of 2026 when a tree took the lines down on a house of eight people, two dogs and three cats — the only one who would, according to the landlord who wrote it up — and worked the tenants, the fire department and the utility until the heat was back. That is the shape of most of the reviews: a Somerville family-owned electrical contractor, six employees on the BBB file, in business since 2016, whose owner still shows up for the small jobs. Its Massachusetts electrician licence is active on the state registry under the company's name, and the BBB grades it A+. Google shows a 5-star average across 74 ratings with nothing below five. EV chargers are a recurring job — a 2025 customer had one installed with 50 feet of trenching after other companies gave no price or an absurd one, and said Costas's detailed estimate beat them all; Tesla wall connectors, panel upgrades to 200 amps, recessed lighting and floor outlets fill in the rest. A June 2026 reviewer whose service was installed through a general contractor called the number on the box a year later about a bird's nest in it, and the crew came out within days and fixed it at no charge. A real estate professional in 2025 had two panels upgraded, the breakers labeled and old cable-company wiring cleared away unasked. Crews are named — Cosmo, Izzy, Kat, Jaren, Israel, Bobby — and several customers describe same-week scheduling after weeks of waiting on someone else, or same-day help in a July heat wave. On r/Somerville commenters this summer report a good experience and 'vague good things'; a 2023 r/medfordma commenter called them a busy team that does good work. The one caution in the reviews is exactly that: a 2021 customer noted they were quite busy, and a 2025 EV-charger job was 'not cheap' even as the best quote. A strong call for an EV charger, a panel or service upgrade, or an emergency in the Somerville, Medford and Cambridge area. Ask for the itemised estimate up front and expect to book around a full schedule.
