Cote Landscape Construction says it is a family-owned landscaping and hardscaping company that has served northern Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts since 2007, based in North Smithfield. Its own list of specialties runs from paver patios and retaining walls to hydroseeding, outdoor fire pits and seasoned firewood delivery. It carries an A+ BBB grade and a 4.6-star Google average from 27 ratings. A recent Google customer said Russ and his crew helped solve drainage issues and the retention of a steep slope, and loves the patio and walkways. A recent customer said the company has helped with many projects around their home, from new trees and shrubs to a difficult slope, and that Russ and Melissa have always been there when needed. A recent customer described patio pavers, a patio wall, a front walk replacement and front stairs, plus design and planting advice from Melissa and Russell when shrubs and beds needed replacing. That customer still uses them for lawn maintenance and mulching, and said they are reliable with edging and cleaning up. A recent customer said the mulching work they did in the yard "made a huge difference in the overall appearance" of the property. A 2017 customer on BuildZoom said the company regraded the backyard at the reviewer's in-laws' home, improved the drainage, installed sod, improved the flower beds and applied mulch, and called it very reasonably priced. Firewood is a different story in a 2025 Google review. That customer said they bought two cords on the company's word that it measured 14-16% moisture, then measured 30% inside a split piece on their own meter and spent four hours trying to get a fire going in their insert. The same 2025 customer said they were shorted about a face cord.
From patios to planting and everything in between Russ and his crew are easy to work with and helped me to solve both Drainage issues and retention of a steep slope. Love our patio and walkways ❤️

Update 7/17/26: lAs I have just pulled all the wood that I knew would not burn by shear weight of the water in it. I had to really encourage you to go somewhere else for wood. They lied telling me they were burning it in four places there. I am not a charity case. They buy dead wood, cutting into circle which sit for a little, and then they split it and call it dry burnable wood. They were so concerned they started metering the outside of their wood. They never showed a log split and measured. Even if they did, it could be from a previous time when their wood was worth it. As for not asking to have them make up the wood. Last thing I wanted was more wet wood. The last two photos are from now. This is the pile of wood I could not even burn a year later. Also, my splitter. Update 3/11/26: Last week I acquired the log splitter needed to make at least a face chord of wood smaller so it will dry by next winter making this a 2 year problem, Not only is the wood dirty but it is so unevenly split that I will have to rent a splitter to split the bigger pieces so they start to dry. I am not a pauper and bought their going rate. Since they acquire random dead trees, the is no consistent density. Some are so rotted they are very light and others very heavy. Just don't buy here. Too Bad zero or negative stars are not an option. Update 10/15/2025 WORTH READING. SUMMARY OF THIS REVIEW: THEIR WOOD TO ME QUOTED AS BEING VERY DRY WAS 30% INSIDE WHEN I BOUGHT A METER AND SPLIT OPEN A PIECE!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! It is amazing how they show all reviews and there are none less than 5 stars. Also are any of them for wood? They make a point of showing with a moisture meter that the wood is around 13%. Why are they so afraid of my review for wet wood and being shorted 1/4 cord? They were freaked about an honest review of their unburnable wood. They said the wood was great and they were burning it in their various stoves and boilers. HA HA. If you split wood, the very outside will dry quickly. But it is INSIDE where the moisture counts. Now if they took a piece and split it open and measured the very center of it, I promise you that you would pass. They secure dead trees and split them and then sell them. The wood was so bad I bought a moisture meter. The wood which was causing issues that I was finishing during split was 20% inside. THEIR WOOD WAS 30%. Updated 7/5/2025 To add insult to injury, to keep the wood burner going, after a couple attempts to burn this "2 chord" of wood, they shorted me about a face chord( maybe a bit more. I paid premium for a chord of ash. I made no more than two failed attempts before getting a meter to tell ne inside moisture was at 30%. A half chord would be 8' x 6'. A face chord is 1.5' wide, 8' long and 4 feet high. My racks due to assembly message are 7" shorter in length and 3.5" in height. The photos show 3 and a partial 4th row. That void is 3' in height and given three other row mostly 1/2 chords I figure I was shorted most of a face chord(4' height and 8' long). By definition a chord is 4' wide, 4'high and 8' long. That is simply insult to injury. Do not get wood here. Feb review: I am extremely disappointed in the "burnable" chord wood I was just suckered into buying. I had a moisture meter coming Tuesday but bought 2 chord anyways from the things they told me. "Oh, we burn it in our wood fire boiler, wood stove and fireplace. It is measuring 14-16%". NOT. I tried 4 hours to get a fire burning in my insert with that wood after getting a reasonable coal base from burning some of the ash which was so so to ignite and burn. After getting my tester and splitting a triangle piece of their wood it measured 30%. Going back to burning my 20% wood from a fall purchase. I was buying for NOW. I'll have to get it off my lawn suppose it will be fine for next winter. Have 1/2 chord plus left for the winter but wood people just can't say the truth about how dry their wood is. Buy what you need in the early spring for the next winter. Useless pile for this winter.
