Twenty-eight Google ratings at 4.9 stars, and the recent jobs people describe are the kind that can turn into a tangle fast: full lead remediation, window replacement, door installation, and work in older houses. Crane Carpentry works out of Malden, and the company’s own profiles tie the business to Wander Oliveira; those same profiles present it as a carpentry and remodeling shop that also handles windows, siding, decks, and licensed lead-paint removal. The strongest through-line here is older-home exterior and lead work, not small punch-list carpentry. In the last six months, Google reviewers describe Wander and his crew handling whole lead-remediation projects, replacing windows, installing doors, and encapsulating surfaces, with repeated praise for clear communication, quick quoting, and work that stayed on schedule. One recent customer said Crane Carpentry completed several major projects including full lead remediation and all-window replacement; another described a large remediation job in a historic house that included windows, doors, and encapsulation. The longer history is positive and fairly deep for a small contractor: 22 reviews across five sources from 2021 to 2026, plus a 0.78 aggregate sentiment score and no negative reviews in the last six months. That said, the one clear blemish is worth asking about. A 2022 Google reviewer said they sent a lead report after initial contact and then never heard back, so if you are calling for an estimate, confirm who is handling follow-up and how quickly you should expect a response. It is also worth pinning down the scope. The company’s own listings cast a wide net — framing, finish carpentry, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, siding, cabinets, and trim — but the customer history here is much heavier on deleading, windows, and related exterior carpentry than on full kitchen or bath remodels. Crane Carpentry looks like the better fit for an owner of an older home who needs lead-related work, window replacement, or exterior carpentry tied to a larger remediation project. Before booking, confirm who will run communication day to day, the exact scope of the carpentry versus remediation work, and whether your job is the kind of full-project work they are most often hired to do.

We had a great experience working with Wander and his team on our home deleading project. Wander was quick to provide a quote, proactive and professional in all communication about the project, and made sure that the job was done efficiently and well. We highly recommend Crane Carpentry and would gladly hire them for future work.

Working with Wander at Crane Carpentry, Inc. was a fantastic experience from start to finish. He recently completed several significant projects for us, including full lead remediation and replacing all of our windows. The quality of his craftsmanship is exceptional; the new windows look seamless, and it is a huge relief to know the remediation was handled with such care and professionalism. Beyond the major projects, Wander also helped us with various odd jobs around the house, including the removal of a built-in desk. Throughout the entire process, his communication was clear and consistent, which made the logistics of the home improvements stress-free. It’s rare to find someone who balances high-quality technical work with such great professional reliability, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

We had Wander and his team do a large lead remediation job in a historic house. This involved window replacement, door installation, and encapsulation. We were very happy with the results. One time when Wander came by to update an estimate (at our request) before renovation began, we discovered our basement furnace went out. Wander hung around and helped us troubleshoot it and left only when it was running again. Good guy, good team.

I had Wander and his team finished a de-leading job in a four bedroom apartment that I recently purchased. I first sent over the inspection report and he reached out immediately in email the next morning and asked to check on the property in person before giving me the quote. He was the only one who did that estimate by showing up and his quote is the best among 5+ companies I reached out from the inspection report. He finished everything in 2 days over the weekend and immediately scheduled a re-inspection on Monday. This quick turnaround really saved me and my potential tenants a lot of headaches. He was very aware of each step and got a great reputation with the inspection company. I'm super happy with the work. He has no drama and was very honest to give the estimate. I'm very impressed and I would like to work with him in the future. He really stands out with the responsiveness and quick turnaround. I'm really happy with his work.
