Crawford Vogel & Wenzel Oil Co

Crawford Vogel & Wenzel Oil Co is a Manchester, New Hampshire heating-oil company, and one recent customer said its fuel deliveries were timely, its staff friendly with questions, and its payment options flexible. The company says its roots go back to Crawford & Vogel's founding in the 1940s, that Herb Wenzel bought it in 1978, and that his son Mike Wenzel joined in 1987 and now owns and operates it. Its website says it delivers home heating oil and diesel across southern New Hampshire and installs and services oil furnaces, burners and SpacePak central air conditioning. In a 2025 review, a customer said Mike was onsite within an hour after they came home to a smell of oil in the cellar, and a magnet was installed to cover a small pin hole until his crew could make the service call. That 2025 customer said two service techs, RJ and Jake, arrived by 8:15 on the service date, left the cellar clean, even wiping their fingerprints off the new tank, and recorded the type of burner and water heater for future reference. A 2026 customer said a delivery came fast after an 18-inch snowfall. A 2023 customer who had bought their house two years earlier said the company made the first delivery within days of the call, and that Mike did the initial inspection and walked them through everything. A 2025 customer said the company did their annual inspection and cleaning and had helped with issues on a very old furnace. An r/newhampshire commenter wrote, "We love Crawford Vogel and Wenzel for everything." Its New Hampshire hvac license, GFE0700112, in William A Wenzel's name, is active on the state registry. The BBB grades it A+ and lists it as accredited since 1989. A 2025 customer said service was good but wished the company posted its cost per gallon. In a 2024 review, a customer said service was very poor, that the owner did not respond to their comments and gave no response when they inquired, that they spent too much money on inefficiencies, and that they switched to Irving. A 2024 reviewer called the company's customer service and business practices terrible and told readers to go elsewhere. A 2021 reviewer who was referred to the company when their elderly parents' furnace stopped working said the person they reached was unempathetic, unfriendly and unhelpful.
