Crooker Construction describes itself on its website as an earthwork, utility and paving contractor that has worked the Mid-Coast region since the mid 1930s. A pressherald.com headline says the Topsham company is now employee-owned. A recent Google customer thanked them for providing the materials to install a road: gravel, riprap and soil. A 2024 customer said they left a 6-12 inch lip on the customer's driveway when they paved past it, and that a request to feather it down was answered with "not their problem, its the towns." A 2025 reviewer who described themselves as a private owner complained that work started before 6:30am, that the guys driving the equipment were on their phones, and that property was destroyed and food and trash left in yards. An lcnme.com article says the Topsham-based company reached a consent agreement with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection over violations at a gravel pit it owns in Whitefield.
“Topsham’s Crooker Construction now employee-owned”
“Topsham-based Crooker Construction LLC has reached a consent agreement with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection over violations that occurred at a gravel pit owned by the company in Whitefield.”
“Crooker Construction engineer Michael Abbott talks about proposed blasting at the pit.”
Thanks for providing the materials needed to install my road, gravel, riprap, soil. You guys are the best!
Starting their work before 6:30am is uncalled for and against noise ordinance. Taking lunch in my drive way or hiding behind my apartment to sit on their phones. Loud as hell. Rude and unprofessional. The guys driving the equipment are always on their phones, and not paying attention. Destroying property, leaving food and trash in our yards. Talking crap about the people that live here. It's been all summer. I know one lady, besides myself that have lost our jobs due to the ignorance. Either not allowing us to leave our homes because they blocked us off or die to working from home. If they actually did the job instead of screwing off they would have been done by now, considering they start 2 weeks earlier then the notice they handed out. I'm a private owner and not impressed.
Left a 6-12 inch lip on our drive way when they paved past it today. Asked if they could at least feather it down some so its not so abrupt and was told not their problem, its the towns. Now my neighbor can't even leave the road without risking ripping there oil pan off.
