Put the order in online and, in a 2024 review, seven yards of red hemlock arrived the same day — the buyer only had to take a call for payment first. Bulk material is the everyday D&D: bark mulch, crushed stone, screened loam and firewood, sold from what the company says are about a dozen yards across Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island since 1989. The delivery is what customers write about. Four 2026 reviewers single out the drop itself — clean delivery at fair prices, one driver named Rob, another who put the material exactly where it was needed before the customer could get outside. In a 2023 review, a buyer taking screened loam and 3/4 bluestone described the driver stopping several times to check the placement. Prices draw the same steady note year after year. Screened loam is where it turns. In September 2025, a customer who took three yards said that once it settled there were rocks, seashells and glass through the dirt, and the grass seed planted in it would not grow. In May 2026, another customer had the loam independently lab-tested and reported little to no compost content, against a website description of rich, decomposed organic material mixed with compost. Two smaller snags: a June 2026 buyer found the three-yard free-delivery minimum applies to each material, so a two-material order came to $100 in delivery; and in a 2023 review, a cubic yard of stone ordered for a Friday never arrived, with the company saying the driver had signed for it. The installed-landscaping side has a longer and rougher history. A 2017 review describes a project that stretched on, went very over budget and was left unfinished after the foreman disappeared. Another 2017 customer wrote that around 15 pine trees planted in September and October 2016 failed, and that a warranty claim was refused because the area had no irrigation. Better accounts sit alongside them: a 2018 reviewer, on a third project, said president Paul Doherty specs out each job and manages it himself, and a 2016 customer described work finished in a few hours with the grass growing in. One more thing on the record: a mass.gov page states that the company and its president were cited in 2015 for wage-and-hour violations — failure to pay overtime, independent-contractor misclassification and recordkeeping violations. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+. For mulch, stone or firewood delivered to the driveway, this is a straightforward call — just confirm the delivery minimum for each material on the order. If it is screened loam, ask what goes into the mix and look it over before spreading. For an installed landscaping project, get the scope, the schedule and the warranty terms written down before anyone starts.
