Furniture repairs and custom woodwork brought customers to Dalco Custom Works in Northampton, but a January 2026 Google reviewer reported a dining chair had remained with the business for years. They said calls, emails and visits had not produced contact. That complaint matters alongside the older accounts of repaired furniture, refinishing and custom carpentry. A June 2022 Google reviewer described a broken leg on a Danish modern dining chair repaired so neatly that the break was almost invisible, and praised responsive service. In an April 2021 review, another customer said Dalco stripped and refinished a painted black-walnut stair banister, with the underside finished as carefully as the visible surfaces. A November 2013 reviewer praised refinishing of mahogany bulkhead doors and repainting of a front porch, saying the business consulted with them throughout the work. The custom-building accounts are older too. In a December 2015 Houzz review, a homeowner described Dave and Lydia measuring for front-porch handrails, offering design options and providing a written estimate. The customer said Dave, assisted by Lydia, built sturdy rails that blended with the house. Their estimate was less than half a competing contractor's price for that job; the reviewer also emphasized the trust Dave and Lydia had earned during the visit. An April 2016 Houzz customer praised work with Dave and Lydia involving window selection, cabinetry design and construction, and ways to use space without expanding the home's footprint. A January 2016 reviewer described a range of completed tasks: designing a sushi board, painting a bathroom, building and installing porch risers and steps, and tuning up an older riding mower. That customer said Dalco explained the work and provided options. Houzz lists custom cabinets, built-ins, shelving and cabinet repair. In September 2026, its rating was five stars from four ratings; Google showed 4.2 stars from five. The January 2026 chair complaint described an unresolved delay and difficulty reaching the business after drop-off.

This business is impossible to get in touch with after you drop something off for repair. They have had my dining room chair for YEARS and I have called, emailed, stopped by - would love some contact but not sure how to get it - maybe this will help.
Highly recommended! Dalco repaired a nasty break on a valuable Danish modern dining chair leg, and now it's virtually impossible to see where where it was broken. High quality work, responsive customer service, and very friendly owners.
I just had an old black walnut stair banister that had been painted by a former owner stripped and refinished by Dalco. They did a beautiful job, very professional, and the finish on the underside is as good as the exposed surfaces. If you'v'e done any finishing, you know that means quality work and attention to detail with no corner-cutting.
One exquisite piece after another. Redefines craftsmanship.
It's our sincere pleasure to share the ver positive experience we had while working with Dave and Lydia of Dalco Custom Renovation Works. From the start we found them knowledgeable yet entirely open to our ideas regarding window selection, designing and building cabinetry and ways to maximize our space without expanding the footprint of our home. The quality of their work is A+ , their pricing is fair and the end result is more than we envisioned or could have hoped for!
