In an August 2025 Google review, a customer wrote that Davis Paving stopped by unannounced saying it had left-over material from a job up the road, offered $2.50 a square foot, and said they could start the next day. The customer, who discussed the rate with owner Jeff Davis, wrote that they didn't pave to the lines agreed upon, bread somehow got into the pavement and left holes after the first rain, a feathered top coat came up with the first plows, and the final price ended up higher than agreed. After Jeff said in May 2025 that they would be by in two weeks to make it right, the customer wrote that almost four months later no one had come. Davis Paving LLC is based in Sidney, Maine, says it has been in business 25 years, and its BBB profile describes paving for driveways, parking lots and patios. It holds an A+ BBB grade and is accredited there, with 3.7 stars from 24 Google ratings. In August 2026 a customer wrote that they sealed the driveway and took care of a few older pothole blemishes. In May 2025 a customer wrote that Jeff and crew paved their driveway with a professional-looking result at the right price. An August 2023 reviewer had two driveways done in one morning, a week and a half after Jeff gave the estimate, and in October 2023 a customer wrote that their driveway and patio went from gravel and old warped pavers to a finished yard in a few hours, with Jeff working alongside his team. In August 2025 a business customer wrote that the paving crew didn't show up on the morning of a booked job, and when someone finally answered, the owner said the sales rep had sold jobs too far outside their service area. In June 2024 a reviewer wrote that as they were leaving, they drove a truck and trailer weighing over 40,000 pounds on the just-paved driveway, leaving permanent tire tracks, and that a gas can was taken by one of his men and never returned. A September 2024 customer wrote that the driveway began breaking at the edge a few months after it was done, and that requests for someone to come look at it were ignored.
Fast and easy to work with. They sealed my driveway and took care of a few older pothole blemishes as well. Professional and the job came out great!
Buyer Beware…Even If They Are Your Neighbor I was approached by Davis Paving when they stopped by (cold stop) and said they had some left-over material that they paid for at pike from a job up the road and they needed to use it. They said they were willing to give me a really good deal…$2.50 a square foot. (After the job was done and talking to Pike this isn’t a thing). Davis Paving said they could start the next day. Side bar (from Maine.gov): Chapter 13: Consumer Rights When A Salesperson Contacts You At Home “When a consumer purchases goods or services from a door-to-door salesperson (which can include sellers who telephone the consumer at home), then you have a right to a written contract and the right to cancel the contract within three business days. If you contracted for a home repair job (e.g., the paving of your driveway) then the contractor must wait for three days before the work can even begin. Further, all door-to-door sellers must be licensed by the State as a transient seller or have a permanent place of business in Maine.” They live in Sidney (as do I) so I took the bait after discussing a slightly better rate with Jeff Davis the owner. They didn’t pave to the lines agreed upon, they used course material for the top coat of the first spot, somehow bread go into the pavement, as soon as the first rain came we had multiple holes now on the top where the bread used to be. The final price ended up being higher than the agreed upon price with Jeff, the owner. We had to fight with his brother-in-law to even get it down a little bit. We should have had them put it in writing but you don’t expect your neighbor to screw you over. A spot where they did a top coat they feathered it down where it met the road with no binder to glue it down. When the first plows came by the pavement came up. We approached them the next day (2 days after they first approached us) about not going to the lines and they said they would be back (we didn’t know about the bread by this point); they didn’t come back. We called 3 different times and by the 3rd call we finally got a response and they said they would come by to look at it; they didn’t (by this time we knew about the bread). We took the bait and paid for it. We will not fall for this type of shady business again. BEWARE and they are part of the reason there is a law. Update 7 Months Later: Since posting this no member of Davis Paving has contacted us except in the response to this review. On May 8, 2025 I happened to see Jeff Davis in the parking lot of a local store and told him about the issues and he said they would be happy to take care of it. He told me that they would be by in 2 weeks to make it right. They also went to another neighbor who had concerns as well and told them the same thing. It's been almost 4 months and no one has even tried to redress our issues.
Very unfortunate and unprofessional experience in August 2025. A sales rep. for Davis Paving, LLC quoted our business and we made arrangements to close during normal business hours to have the paving completed. The morning of the job, the paving crew didn’t show up, wouldn’t answer calls etc. When they did answer the owner said that their sales rep. was selling jobs to far outside of their service area and that they had no intentions of completing our job. It would have been nice for them to call and explain this and simply cancel the job in advance. Their response was that they are too busy to call. This is unacceptable.
My driveway looks great. The job was done when promised and at a fair price. The area was left clean. They were very professional
I had Jeff and crew pave my driveway today and I couldn’t ask for a more professional looking job. The price was right and you could tell they all take pride in the quality work they do. I would highly recommend them for any paving job someone would need
