DdA Home Remodel is a Milton-based remodeling contractor run by Dan de Angeli, working with principal carpenter and designer Noel O'Keeffe, and has been serving the Greater Boston area since 2003. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and it holds a 4.9-star average on Google from 44 ratings, plus profiles on Houzz and Angi in the high 4s and 5s. For most of its written record, the same two names anchor almost every account: reviewers across several years describe Dan scoping the work and Noel executing it with a level of craft that keeps drawing repeat business. Specific jobs recur — a kitchen redesigned to open a view of the backyard while cooking, a 120-plus-year-old kitchen gutted and rebuilt with an outside designer brought in, a condo association's three-story rear deck structurally repaired on a tight timeline, stair railings and grab bars added for a homeowner managing balance issues, a back porch rebuilt to spec. A couple of accounts run back to December 2019 — dated, but real written history rather than absent. The through-line in nearly all of them is responsiveness and follow-through: reviewers repeatedly note that projects stayed on budget and on the timeline quoted. That record has one real crack in it: a June 2026 review describes terminating a project — reframing a gutted closet and bathroom into a new bedroom — and says the contractors hired afterward to finish the job did better work for roughly half the price. It's a detailed, specific account, and it stands out precisely because nothing else in the record reads that way. DdA Home Remodel looks like a solid, established choice for a kitchen, bath, deck, or accessibility project, backed by a verified license and years of specific, named-crew praise — but the 2026 complaint is worth asking about directly, especially for a job involving structural reframing.
It's interesting to see positive reviews commenting on Dan's pricing and work quality. After terminating my most recent project with Dan, I hired other contractors to finish the job (carpenter, plaster guy, plumber, painter). They all did a better job than Dan at half the price. If you want to save money and a headache, look elsewhere. Details below. I had contracted Dan to reframe a gutted space (a former walk-in closet and a bathroom). The ask was to make the bathroom smaller so the closet area could become an extra bedroom. For privacy reasons, the new bedroom needed its own entrance and bathroom access, while the master bedroom required a separate bathroom entrance. These are reasonable design requirements any customer would expect. Dan did not provide even a simple sketch of the new layout and, as far as I know, did not take measurements. Instead, he sent his carpenter to start the framing the next day. As a result, a framing error was made and I was charged both for the installation and the correction ($1,100/day). For the bathroom, I bought a tub Dan had suggested and sent him the specs. Before buying the tub I specifically asked what my size limitations were and Dan said 'any size tube' will work. After his carpenter had installed the door frame, we realized this was not the case. At that time, we had had enough and terminated the project. Dan did pretty good, getting away with close to $17K. Correcting this error later took my husband three full days. If you are working with Dan, I would strongly recommend that you keep a daily log of actual work performed and ask whether short consultation visits are billed. Also, be very careful about suggestions for additional work. I realized that Dan had charged me for pitching a closet installation project. They did not provide a plan, a sketch, or a budget, but did bill my $1100 for a short consult visit.
We needed a hand with some troublesome interior carpentry issues, a teetering fence, and a faulty gate. Knowing just what to do, Dan and Noel swooped in with the perfect solution – exterior treated lumber. They swiftly made all the necessary corrections and improvements, ensuring that everything was sturdy, secure, and looking good. Now, the fence is upright, the gate swings smoothly, and the interior carpentry is just right.
Dan and his carpenter, Noel did an amazing job replacing a set of stair railings. It looks great!
Dan, Noel and Bertie are great to work with and very accommodating. Dan reviewed our needs, helped us with concept and scheduled the work to be completed during a tight turnaround timeframe. Noel is a meticulous carpenter and Bertie's dovetail plastering was perfect. We are very happy and hope to enge DdA Home Remodel soon again on a new project.
Our 120+ year old home had last had any kitchen work done more than 40 years prior and was in desperate need of a complete renovation. After receiving excellent reviews of his work from friends, we contacted Dan de Angeli in late 2021 and asked him to come give us an estimate for this job. He showed up soon after with his carpenter Noel. From the start, it was clear that Dan and his team were up to the task of creating a new kitchen for our home. Dan immediately brought in an experienced kitchen designer who created a plan much better than any we had imagined possible. From there, Noel along with the assorted trades people involved were able to use that plan to give us a kitchen that meets all our storage and cooking needs and is beautiful to look at. Throughout the construction process, Dan returned all calls promptly when we had any questions and was able to answer our questions and address any issues that arose. We appreciated Noel’s carpentry magic and the skill with which Dan managed all facets of the job. We give Dan de Angeli our highest recommendation.
