Ask about Dempsey Energy and you tend to get a technician's name back rather than a company's. Robert, Bob, Xavier, Matt, Charles, Dave, Tim — reviewers name them one by one, then describe the same thing each time: someone who explained what was wrong and why before touching anything. Across 964 Google ratings averaging 4.6, that is the steadiest thread running through the whole history. The work itself is the HVAC a New England summer and winter generate. A mini split and new condenser installed over a full day, complications and all. A dead central-air system torn out and replaced inside one day, with the crew working a 100-degree attic and an unshaded yard. A failed damper traced to the utility room, parts fetched mid-visit, repair finished the same trip. Boilers and hot water come up nearly as often — a tankless boiler flush done quietly and on schedule, a pinhole leak in copper pipe handled as an emergency call, a tankless combination boiler and water heater tuned with advice on running it better. The company's BBB page carries an A+. The friction is rarely the workmanship. It is the invoice. One customer paid $90 in travel plus $220 to diagnose, was told the fault was electrical, and was left with an air conditioner that still did not run. Another waited three hours past a four-hour window, paid $450, and still had an unrepaired unit. A third called $350 to diagnose the problem overpriced while praising the service in the same breath. The sharpest one accuses the company of keeping a deposit, calling $1,300 to install and program thermostats a ripoff. The theme even surfaces inside the favorable reviews: a $1,200 repair one customer felt was mostly labor and half a can of cleaner, and roughly $900 for what another believed was a twenty-minute job. Scheduling can slip too — one homeowner sat through a weekend waiting on emergency service before being booked for Monday, then rated the technician himself five stars. On r/boston, a commenter picked them alongside one other shop partly because they run MeasureQuick as a diagnostic tool and are on the smaller side; a second commenter mentioned only that Dempsey handled an install at their rental property. They are a sound call when something has quit and you want it looked at quickly by someone who will talk you through it. Before the truck rolls, pin down the diagnostic and travel charges and what happens to that money if the repair needs a second visit — that is where nearly every unhappy customer ended up.

“Dempsey Energy and Obie, primarily b/c [MeasureQuick](https://measurequick.com/) is first and foremost a diagnostic tool. They're also on the slightly smaller side, which makes me feel better.”

They showed up asap for emergency repair on a pinhole leak in a copper pipe so homeowner could be all set means a lot to me. However hearing bill for close to 900 for what I knew, wasn't an hour job(20 minutes I heard) is quite a bit. But homeowner was happy n that's all I care about. I was expecting like half that for a bill .

Thank you Eric of Dempsey AC for agreeing to remove my old wall AC and install a new AC 'heat pump' unit where no one else would do it. You and your team immediately got to work removing the old AC unit. Measured correctly to resize the wall opening so the new AC unit fit perfectly. Eric and his team were meticulous installing my AC unit and then cleaned up the work area completely. Anyone that has a system like I did or are in need any AC work done call Eric and his team at Dempsey AC in Attleboro for quick and reliable service. I am so happy in choosing Dempsey AC. . . . Thank you Eric

Charles and Dave just completed an all day job installing a mini split AC Heat Pump unit. It looks fantastic. They were very thorough with explaining everything once the job was complete. I would highly recommend Dempsey Energy.
