That is the kind of job this Worcester company keeps getting called back for: the structural odd work inside an older house. E&K General Construction describes itself as a residential and commercial general contractor covering remodeling, painting, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, roofing and kitchen renovation. Thumbtack's profile puts it at eight years in business with 119 projects logged, and reviewers almost always name Danny, who runs the crew. Quoting is where people notice them first. A March 2024 homeowner with an old colonial needing a variety of repairs said Danny came out within a day or two with a detailed quote, and the work began within the week. A May 2024 Thumbtack customer sent the same inquiry to three businesses and said E&K was the only one to come look at the bathroom in person; the estimate arrived within 24 hours, the job took in subfloor work, flooring and a toilet, and the bathroom was finished a few days later. A June 2025 reviewer with a damaged foundation beam under a deck, awkward to reach, got a visit the same day they asked and a plain account of the repair before it started. The work itself ranges further than the stairs suggest. A May 2025 customer had the exhaust fan over a gas stove replaced after the original was installed so badly that most fumes weren't leaving the house. A March 2024 review describes plaster stripped from a living room, drywall hung and the walls painted, done well ahead of schedule. Another that month covers a recently finished basement that took on water damage within a year and was put back to looking new. In a September 2024 review, a designer had E&K carry out the full installation of a kitchen they had drawn for a client. Two things to settle before booking. The trade list on the company's own site is long — HVAC, plumbing and roofing sit beside the carpentry and remodeling — so ask which of those the crew does itself and which it subcontracts. And note the dates: the written history runs from 2023 to a review posted in March 2026, with most of it from 2024, while Google sits at 4.9 across 33 ratings and Thumbtack at 4.6 across 37. For interior work with a structural edge — stairs to replace, a beam gone soft, a basement to put back together — this is a sensible call, and the estimate tends to come quickly. Get that estimate in writing, and agree which trades are in-house before the crew starts.
