Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from E/R Electric. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).

E/R Electric is a small Cambridge shop built around Eddie, working alongside Laura and Steve on jobs across Cambridge, Somerville, and Arlington. The work runs from panel upgrades and EV charger installs to the everyday calls — a tripped breaker, a failing GFCI outlet, a house full of hardwired smoke detectors — and the same specifics turn up review after review: a callback within minutes, a text with the arrival window, a job wrapped inside an hour more often than not. The specifics tell the story. A spring review describes a full 200-amp panel and EV charger installation, and the same season brought a full electrical refresh inside an older Somerville condo — new fixtures, updated wiring, brought up to code. A tenant's breaker call got same-day service with no overtime charge despite an after-hours visit, and a whole-house safety inspection checked every outlet and the panel itself for loose connections and grounding. Property managers and repeat homeowners show up throughout the history — tenants whose emergency calls get answered without an overtime surcharge, and clients who've had Eddie back for lighting, panels, and inspections across several years. Reviewers going back to 2021 describe the same pattern in older homes: overloaded circuits, water-damaged disconnects, knob-and-tube inspections. One 2021 account credits Eddie with fixing an overloaded kitchen circuit for under half what a competing electrician had quoted. The one sour note sits alone: in a 2023 review, a customer described Eddie and a partner as rude, specifically citing language used in front of children. It's a single account against dozens describing the opposite, and nothing like it recurs in the ten reviews from the last six months. On Reddit, neighbors point people toward E/R directly when asked — a recent thread described two worn-out breakers swapped in about ten minutes. Worth asking about before booking: BBB's file on the company lists a Massachusetts DOL electrician license (#11015, expiring 2028), but that's the directory's own record rather than one checked against the state registry, so it's worth confirming directly if licensing matters to your job. Otherwise, this is a solid call for panel and EV charger work, and for the kind of same-day breaker-and-outlet fix that comes up in an older Cambridge-area home.
“Eddie has replaced 2 breakers of mine that just felt like flipping all the time (they were just worn-out). It took him like ten minutes. [e.r\[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])”
“Eddie Rodrigues Electric.”
E/R came to my home and gave me a very fair price and explained everything that was unsafe. They cleaned up everything and it was like they were never there.
Eddie from E/R electric did a great job. He returned my call quickly and kept me informed by texting me a scheduled time. I had trouble with the ground fault circuit breaker. Eddie troubleshot all the electric outlets and determine the breaker was at fault. He is my go to electrician.
We've used ER Electric a few times now. Always friendly, professional, and responsive.
We had a wonderful experience with recent electrical work. Eddie responded to us very quickly and was able to share a quote via text after seeing a few photos (far better than other quotes we received). He was very responsive and flexible to scheduling between HVAC and insulation, coming by twice in one week for this project. Both times he was on time, efficient, and provided excellent service. I would highly recommend Eddie and E/R Electrical!
E/R Electric conducted a full electrical safety inspection of my home. They were incredibly thorough with the electrical panel, checking for loose connections and outdated breakers and made necessary adjustments. They also tested every single outlet in the house to ensure proper grounding and polarity. E/R was very professional and I highly recommended them to anyone needing peace of mind about their home’s wiring!
