East Philly Plumbing & Heating is the call-when-something-fails shop. On Google it shows 244 ratings at 5★, and the recent jobs people describe are the urgent ones: a leaking sink, a flooded basement, a main drain leak at 9 a.m., a water heater that quit, heat that went out in winter. That through-line matters more than a long service list — people keep calling when waiting is not an option. Speed is the part most likely to change a homeowner's mind here, but the speed is usually paired with explanation. In recent Google reviews, one customer said a Sunday call about a leaky sink became a Monday 2-to-4 appointment that started right at 2 after a text on the way; another said a main drain leak was fixed between 9 and 10:30 that morning; another said a gas-line problem was diagnosed and repaired within an hour. Several of those same customers say the crew explained what they were doing, gave an upfront estimate, and reviewed the fix before leaving. The work people mention is everyday plumbing first: drains, sewer line clearing, leak repairs, outdoor hose and faucet fixes, and water heaters. Heating work shows up too, including a boiler install in January, HVAC service in June, and no-heat calls where customers say the house was warm again quickly. The comments are not just one-off homeowners, either; there are recent jobs at rental properties and one call from a parent more than a thousand miles away trying to deal with a daughter's flooded basement. Clean-up comes up often, which matters more than it sounds once a crew has been in your basement or kitchen. Recent customers say the work area was left clean, there was no mess behind, and the team kept communication moving from dispatch through completion. Price comments also lean positive in recent reviews, with a few customers calling the cost reasonable or saying the estimate was clear before work started. The point to pin down before booking is what the first visit covers if the job opens into access work or a return trip. One June 2026 Google reviewer described a ceiling hole, a $250 charge for a very short visit, and several days of chasing a callback. That sits against a long run of five-star reviews, but it is specific enough to ask about trip charges, who handles patching, and how follow-up is scheduled. If you need quick help for a leak, drain problem, water heater, sewer line, or a house with no heat, this is the pattern the recent reviews keep describing. Before you book, confirm the fee structure and what happens if the first repair exposes a bigger problem.

Updated 6/22: so we didn't have the right tools to fix the leaky sink and called East Philly plumbers on Sunday afternoon. They scheduled for Monday 2p-4p and arrived at 2p just after texting to confirm they were on the way. Tim& his assistance were friendly, knowledgeable and didn't waste time. It took 30 minutes to replace the corroded leaky child water valve and replace the faucet which was leaky also. Fortunately I had a new faucet kit previously purchased and they easily installed it. Good experience, fair price for time & labor. I'd recommend them and use them again in the future. 5 star service!
****************************************
Original review:
This review is solely based on response. I reached out in April 2026 on a Sunday afternoon because my kitchen sink was leaking. I received a reply in less than 5 minutes with a next morning appointment. My husband & I ended up figuring out that we needed a new faucet and installed it Sunday night. I let them know we didn't require their services and they sent a nice acknowledgement.

Based on this interaction & the other ratings, when I need a pro, I'd definitely contact them again. I meant to send this in April but forgot. I now have a leaky bathroom sink issue 😫 may be calling them if we can't figure it out. If I do, I'll certainly follow up with a rating on service.

They replaced a water heater on 6/12 and had them clear out a sewer line on 6/19. On both occasions the response was excellent. They explained in detail what needed to be done and an upfront estimate. After the completion of the work, they reviewed everything with us. I highly recommend them and would definitely use them for any future plumbing issues.
Note: The amount I paid as noted below was for both services and was cheaper then any other plumber quoted.

Great experience! I had my HVAC serviced and front hose repaired by East Philly and they did a great job. Clean, professional service and a great price. Don't hesitate to use them!
