Spencer Home Services is a Peabody plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical and drain contractor that says its first truck rolled out of a Peabody driveway in 1981 and that the Spencer family, now in its second generation, still runs it. Customers describe fast callbacks and fast arrivals. In a June 2026 review, a customer said Charles arrived within an hour on a Friday evening and finished the repair in under another, after two other companies never called back. A June 2026 customer said Spencer was the only company to call back within a day about cleaning their AC condenser. Bigger jobs appear too: a May 2026 customer said the crew replaced two furnaces and an AC unit in eight hours, a June 2026 customer said a crew finished sewer repairs, digging in the street included, in one day, and another June 2026 customer said a sewer-pipe liner came with a 30-year warranty at pricing they called competitive, if not the cheapest. Some customers objected to the prices. In an April 2026 review, a customer said they were charged $850 to install a $150 garbage disposal after being told the job could take four to six hours; the technician was done in 35 to 40 minutes, and a promised call from a manager did not come for three weeks. A December 2024 customer said they paid $760 for 20 minutes of labor installing their own Nest thermostat and called the sales tactics shady. A May 2026 customer said the company kept charging a monthly subscription despite repeated calls to cancel it, and another May 2026 customer said two appointments were cancelled and the technician on the third never showed up, two and a half hours after the on-the-way call.
