Replacing basement supports while preserving the utility lines attached to them is one of the jobs customers describe at Eastern Basements. A May 2026 reviewer identified the company in Ellsworth and said the crew replaced old lumber and temporary-rated posts with metal supports. The customer described a project manager’s survey before the quote, attention to an uneven slab, and foreman Chris checking loads, post positions and existing bends in the beams before removal. The crew used drop cloths, spared the electric and gas lines attached to the old posts, and left the basement and surroundings cleaner than before. Another customer, writing in June 2026, described a reinforcing wall built in the basement. They praised an estimate that broke down the work and costs, patient help with questions, and a crew that followed the agreed timeline and schedule. A July 2026 reviewer said they were a repeat customer and praised the team’s punctuality. Google shows 4.8 stars from 36 ratings. Moisture control is another part of the work customers report. In a November 2025 review, a customer said Eastern Basements had worked on two basements for them, solved the moisture issue and delivered work that had held up well. The reviewer also described a cheerful crew. A May 2024 customer described a more involved response to water backing into a basement. After a consultation and a detailed proposal that the company revised with them, the job included extending the sump-pump discharge indoors and outdoors, routing PVC through the basement, and digging a 60-foot trench to the back of the property. The customer also described replacement of rusted basement posts and cleanup of pre-existing debris. They praised the installation work, detailed estimates and professionalism. Great work, showed up to work on time with an excellent team. Highly recommended and we are a repeat customer.
Eastern Basements built a reinforcing wall in our basement. Overall, working with them was easy and very professional, from the estimate, the actual work, and the clean up. The estimate they provided was a nice, detailed, breakdown of the work and costs so that I have a solid understanding of the work to be done. Everyone I interacted with was helpful and patient with my many questions and provide great support. The crew that came and did the work were professional and stuck to the timeline and schedule outlined before the work started. I highly recommend them.
We contacted Eastern Basements in Ellsworth to replace the old lumber and temporary-rated posts in our basement, with code-compliant metal support, and couldn't be happier with our experience. From the start, office Support was very responsive and helpful, and documents were clear and easy to navigate. On-site, we had a great survey with the project manager before they write the quote and they took into account all the peculiarities of our old house, the slightly uneven slab, and the electric/gas lines that, over the years, had been stappled on the wooden posts and had to be spared. The day of, the team arrived on time and immediately prepared the site thoroughly with drop cloths to catch dust and saw dust. I really appreciated the knowledge and expertise of our foreman, Chris, who took the time to review the loads, posts positions, pre-existing bends in the beams, a second time, and went above and beyond to spare the lines running on the old posts before removing them. Everyone in the crew was super amicable and professional - it helped with our mild stress of having such important, structural elements of the house removed. When all was said and done, the basement and surroundings of the house were cleaner than when they started, and we have shiny, sturdy support posts. I'll recommend Eastern Basement and would definitely work with them again on our next project.
Very good company. I have had them do two basements for me now. Their work solved the moisture issue and has held up well. Their crew is cheerful and seems happy to go to work. That means a lot to me and indicates that the management takes care of their employees. That care shows in the final product.
In short, I had a back flow of water into my basement through a mysterious hole and was looking for opinions/solutions. I scheduled an consultation/estimate and they were very knowledgeable, professional and I was surprised by the various services they provide. They assembled a detailed proposal, and were glad to go through a revision process and answer questions. Ultimately we extended our sump pump discharge inside and out, routing new PVC in the basement and digging a 60' trench for PVC to the back of our property. We also replaced a couple rusted basement post due to the water back flow. The installation crew was professional and did a quality job. They also went above and beyond cleaning up pre-existing debris. I would highly recommend Eastern Basements for the quality work, detailed estimates and professionalism that most contractors do not offer.
