Ed Lilley Construction is a Burnham business whose website says it specializes in carpentry services. A recent customer says Ed made a front porch for their house and worked with them to create stable steps and a deck. A 2025 reviewer who wrote that Ed worked with them for over 3 years said he can fabricate cabinets, set tile, paint, stain and build decks and other outdoor structures. A 2025 reviewer who said they had worked on projects with him for the past three years wrote that they had seen him turn dilapidated barns into condos. A 2025 customer said they hired Ed to refinish their kitchen island and that he did a nice job on the butcherblock island top, but the painting did not go well. That 2025 customer said Ed came every day for 2 or 3 hours, never finished the job and left the cabinets unassembled in their garage, and that they had to sand and repaint the cabinets themselves. The same 2025 reviewer wrote that Ed walked off with a portion of the money for baseboards he said he would not install, and on his last day told them he was over on hours by another $1400.00 on a job bid by the job.
Ed made us a front porch for our house. He was willing to work with us to create a nice stable steps and deck to our house.
We hired Ed to refinish our kitchen island. When the job started we thought everything was going well. He did a nice job on our butcherblock island top. When he started painting our island things didn't go well. Ed would come and work for 2 or 3 hours and leave. He came every day but never put in a full days work. He never finished the job. The cabinets needed to be repainted after he painted them. I had to sand them down and repaint them myself. He never reassembled the cabinets. He just left them on our garage. His reason for this is, he had too many hours into the project. He had bid the job by the job, not by the hour. He asked for his money up front we gave it to him. He was supposed to put our baseboards in also and he walked off of the job with a portion of that money also. He said he wouldn't be installing our baseboards. Basically he quit the job before he finished it. I had asked him to put my handles on the cabinets and I expected to pay a change order, because it wasn't in his bid. Ed came to our house on the last day he was on our job and told us he was over on hours by another $1400.00. Remember he bid the job by the job not the hour. He left us hanging with an unfinished job. I would NOT RECOMMEND HIM FOR A PERSON TO HIRE!! SADLY THIS WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.
Ed worked with me for over 3 years. His craftsmanship and skills are unparalleled. His design sense it fantastic, but there is zero ego involved. If I didn’t want to take his advice, he’d grin and do whatever it was the way I asked. (Sometimes we went back and did it his way. 🤣) He can fabricate beautiful cabinets, set tile like a machine, paint, stain, build decks and other outdoor structures, do standard construction… He will do pretty much anything he is asked to do, within the parameters of his licensing. I’ve tried to upload photos, but so much of my house has “Ed” infused into it!
Mr. Lilley is one of the most talented carpenters that I have ever had the opportunity to work with. I have been swinging a hammer for over fifteen years and have been fortunate enough to have been working on projects with him for the past three years. I have seen this man turn dilapidated barns into high end condos and make showroom furniture out of scrap pieces of wood. Not only is Ed Lillley a Master Carpenter, I would highly recommend him for any project from framing to finish work. I would hire him to manage and/or build a home for myself. His knowledge is honestly second to none.
I’ve known Ed over 40 years. He is a skilled craftsman and has never done me wrong. It’s a joy to do business with him.
