That's accurate — Elephant runs the sales conversation, the Mass Save rebate paperwork, and the project planning, then hands the physical installation to a subcontractor, most often a company called Forge. The company, a Certified B Corp founded in 2021, sells and installs heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and solar across several states, including Massachusetts. The two halves of the job get very different reviews. Customers describe the sales and planning side as smooth and well-run: competitive quotes, project managers like Santiago and Joe who check in throughout the process, and clear explanations of the rebate math. Reddit threads comparing installers repeatedly put Elephant among the cheapest Mass Save-approved options. The complaints cluster on the other side of that split — what happens once the system is in. Several reviews from 2025 and 2026 describe a mini-split developing a cooling problem months after installation and then struggling to get a service callback; one 2025 review said financing was approved for a system, only to be told a month later that it couldn't actually be installed; another described being told a 22-year-old air return that had worked fine for two decades was suddenly inadequate. Ask directly about the service and warranty process before signing, not just the installation quote. Elephant Energy is worth a quote for a Mass Save-backed heat pump or heat pump water heater project, especially to compare pricing — but get the post-install service commitment in writing, and ask exactly who performs the physical installation on your job.

Although I ultimately decided to postpone my mini-split project, I had an excellent experience working with Mike at Elephant Energy throughout the consultation process. He was responsive, patient, and took the time to answer my many questions without ever making me feel pressured. He was transparent about pricing, worked to obtain the best price possible, and thoughtfully addressed my concerns about the installation and preserving the appearance of my home. While I haven't moved forward with the installation at this time, I truly appreciated Mike's professionalism and would be happy to work with Elephant Energy if I decide to install mini-splits in the future.
The installation of our heat pump went without a hitch, just as promised, and the crew cleaned up both inside and out. Everyone we dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Our project manager, Joe, walked us through the entire process and checked in frequently during the installation. His coordination of the project was paramount in the way the job went so smoothly. We are looking forward to years of comfort with our new heating/cooling system and would not hesitate to recommend Elephant Energy.

Installation as a project run very smooth. The system run smoothly over the winter time. Our system operational on Nov 2025. June 2026. My nightmare start when one of the system is having problem cooling after the weather turn warmer. It?s been frustrating on dealing with the service dept. I have call, text and email. The response is so slow or no response. Once I get a service appt, the service person never show up. I have to call and get status update. It?s now been more than a month since one of the unit experience problem. It?s automatic shutdown on hot day. There is still no word on what happen to service/fix the system. I had to leave this negative experience because of this unpleasant problem.
