Escala Construction & Remodeling Corp is a general contractor based in Avon, MA, with an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. A 2014 review named Ivaldo Venturin as the owner. A 2025 review said Ivaldo and his team finished renovating two bathrooms, including converting a tub to a walk-in shower in the master bath. Another 2025 review, from a customer who had engaged Ivaldo and his crew across 6 projects, said the work ranged from reinforcing a foundation for a multi-storey building to a total gut renovation of a multi-family house, plus paint, fencing and roofing. A 2023 review said a project converted an attached garage into living space with a small mudroom connecting it to the house, and that Ivaldo stayed within budget and completed the work sooner than the predicted deadline despite added work, including a patio with a stone wall and a small foundation for a new shed. A 2022 review said Escala did a complete gut renovation in Somerville, including a basement expansion, foundation work, ground water management and significant framing replacement, then rebuilt it according to the architect's plans. In a separate 2022 review, a retired architect said Escala Construction's projects included carpentry, roofing, plastering and painting and restoring historic woodwork on the home's exterior; after roof damage from a severe storm, that 2022 review said they had the roof weathertight the next day. A 2017 review said the porch footing was beyond what the drawings called for, with extra focus on shoring up the roof because the sagging front porch was causing a sag in the roof line. A 2017 review from a small self-managed condo association said Ivaldo managed the city's requirements and oversight on projects, several of them city mandated, and provided references and estimates beforehand. Per a 2014 review, work over 3 years included unexpected repairs to a large section of rotted siding uncovered while painting a house exterior, replacing windows at a church property, and replacing all of the siding on a church-owned apartment building in a historic district. A 2014 review said the contractor added a second floor with a family room, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and a master bathroom, and remodeled the kitchen, replacing the old tile floor with hardwood. A 2017 review of a full gut renovation called the quality very good other than one issue with tiling, and described delays from scheduling issues with the utility company (Eversource) that the reviewer said were out of their control.
Ivaldo and his team recently finished renovating two bathrooms. Ivaldo is very personable and great with communication throughout the projects. This was our first major renovation and he offered suggestions that helped guide our decision making. His team was also very good. they were professional, clean and thorough. the work and craftsmanship are top notch. We are very pleased with the outcomes especially with the master bath since we converted a tub to a walk-in shower. I would not hesitate to use him for future projects and recommend his services.
As a first-time homeowner, I really appreciated working with Ivaldo. He not only kept the project within a reasonable budget, but also offered helpful advice along the way. Communication was straightforward and reliable, and he was easy to work with throughout the process. We are satisfied with the results he and his team delivered, and I would be happy to recommend him to others.
I have engaged Ivaldo and his crew across 6 projects so far. The work ranged from highly critical engineering project to reinforce a foundation for a multi-storey building, total gut renovation for a multi-family house, cosmetic renovation, paint, fencing, roofing etc. Ivaldo delivered consistently EXCELLENT work across all projects. Each project was done on-time, within budget, with great quality, and at fair prices. Ivaldo also fully owns all his work and is ready to come back to take care of any issues related to the work, if any. This gives me a lot of peace of mind. Ivaldo carries with him decades of experience, a brilliant problem-solving mind, is creative, and overall just a very nice guy. An absolute pleasure to work with. He is on my speed dial for any construction or contractor work, big or small. I highly recommend Ivaldo.
Ivaldo completed several projects including converting an attached garage into living space, adding a mudroom, patio, stone wall, and shed foundation; we are extremely happy with the work.
Ivaldo has done a number of projects for us since we purchased our first house in 2021. He is very easy to work with, always takes a consultative approach, and helps us understand the benefits and drawbacks to our ideas. His pricing is transparent, and he will do whatever her can to make sure we get exactly what we are looking for within our defined budget. For our most recent project we converted our attached garage into living space, and built a small mudroom to connect it with the rest of the house. Ivaldo was able to stay within our budget and completed the work sooner than the predicted deadline. He accomplished all of that despite us adding additional work to the project including a patio with stone wall, and a small foundation for a new shed. Ivaldo is also very present at the jobs he works. He stopped by almost daily if not twice a day to check on progress, ask for our opinions, and supervise the work. His guys are respectful to our home and accommodating our dogs who can be loud and nosy sometimes. Overall we are extremely happy with the work, and to know we have a contractor we can trust with putting our best interests first.
