Etinde Painting paints houses. A 2020 customer said Etinde Painting painted their 110 year old, three-story wood frame house, that Dido and his crew did extensive prep work, and that Dido helped them select and mix the paint colors for the trim, doors and lattice work. A 2021 customer said they had heard no estimate and gotten no returned calls after two visits, then Dido got in touch, the project was fast-tracked, and the finished job looked great to them. A 2025 customer said they were satisfied with an exterior paint job done in May 2024 but that the decking was not done correctly after the winter. That 2025 customer said Dido, the owner, stopped by and committed to redoing the deck at no charge, and that after numerous phone calls for months and email, the company was ghosting them. A 2021 customer said Etinde did a good job painting their house but that blistering paint showed up soon after, and that after over 4 months of continuous outreach no one had come to fix it. A 2014 customer described a $9,500 interior painting job that was to be completed by January 1st, 2014, and said they came back from vacation to find the place partially painted, with damage to the house. That 2014 customer said the job was never completed and that they paid over $7,000 out of pocket to clean up and finish it.
“$6,000 due 10/21/14”
while I was satisfied with their Exterior paint job in May 2024, The decking after the winter was obviously not done correctly and I reached out to see about having them redo it. Dido. the owner, stopped by and committed to redoing the deck at no charge. Since then, after numerous phone calls for months to both his mobile and the office number and email, It is obvious that they are ghosting me. I would not recommend their work. From other reviews, I’ve read others have had the same experience.
We hired Etinde to paint our house and they did a good job. But we noticed some trouble spots with blistering paint soon after the job was completed. They say they will have someone come back and fix them up, but it has taken over 4 months of continuous outreach and they still have not come to fix the job. I'm sure they'll get here to fix it eventually but at this point Etinde would not be my recommendation.
Initiated a conversation about spring/ summer painting in February; they came to evaluate the house twice (?). Never heard an estimate, and now they don't return phone calls. I hope it's not too late to find someone else! UPDATE: A couple of days after I wrote this, Dido got in touch. They ended up fast-tracking our project, and it's now done and looks great! Dido and the team were all very sweet, clean, considerate, and helpful. Thanks Dido!
Etinde Painting did a a beautiful job painting our 110 year old, three-story wood frame house. Dido and his excellent crew did extensive prep work, and were extremely thorough and meticulous in highlighting the detail of the facade of the house, Throughout, Dido patiently helped us select and mix just the right paint colors for the trim, doors, and lattice work. It was a big job and we couldn’t be happier with the final result.
My experience with Etinde painting was horrible. The job was to paint the interior of my house including walls, ceilings, moldings, doors, closets etc. We agreed on $9,500 and it was to be completed in 3 weeks, by January 1st, 2014 while we were away on vacation. When I came back from vacation on January 2nd I found the place partially painted, with damage to the house. The quality of work was amateurish at best. The walls had multiple unrepaired or very poorly repaired spots. After I'd point them out, they would try to fix them, with varying level of success. Sometimes it took 4 attempts and it still was not right. As I later found out from one of the employees, Dido trains his people to cut corners and do things fast. They paint first and then see if it looks “good enough”. All along Dido was absent from the work site. He would pop in for a second to see the progress. At some point he left for Congo, where he apparently has other businesses that he runs in that country. The job was never completed. I was finally forced to hire other people to do the garage, basement and the hallway that were never touched by Etinde Painting, and to correct and finish the rest of the house. The total sum paid by me out of pocket to clean up the mess that Etinde left behind was over $7,000. When I confronted him asking to cover some or all of the losses, the answer I got was: “I'm not paying you a dime”. Of course I didn't see a dime to cover the damage to my house either. I think Etinde Painting is a predatory business, taking advantage of consumers by using false statements, empty promises, or blatant lies. Dido bids below what he can do the job for (later admitting he did so because he knew he wouldn't get the job otherwise). Then he jacks up the price, extends the time-line and compromises on quality. Etinde Painting is NOT a registered Home Improvement Contractor, which violates Mass GL 142A, since they advertise and perform multiple types of work (carpentry, floor refinishing, wall repair, exterior painting), not just interior painting, which is exempt from the registration requirement (but still there are plenty of painters who are registered). It is a good idea to hire only registered HIC businesses, because in case you run into issues, there are means of dealing with them and holding them accountable. There is a complaint system, an arbitration process conducted by a qualified person, pool of money that will cover whatever the business owes you etc. Not getting involved with unreliable, shady companies like Etinde Paining is, of course, the best way to avoid problems. You don't want to find yourself in a situation I was in – paying $7,000 out of pocket to fix/finish a job that was over 90% paid for once already, and having to live with a trashed house.
