Evergreen Home Performance is an insulation company whose website lists attic, wall, spray foam and basement insulation and air sealing, and which says it has been in business 20 years. Its stated service area runs from Portland and South Portland through Falmouth, Yarmouth and Brunswick up to Rockland and Rockport. The insulation work itself draws praise. One recent Google customer said the project was completed on time and at the price quoted. A recent customer said the work made the house warmer and keeps the second floor cooler even in 90 degree heat, and described the crew as quiet, clean and polite. A recent reviewer was pleased with crawlspace encapsulation, insulation and dehumidification, and said Richard, the owner, helped address issues from the initial encapsulation work. The siding is where things went wrong. A recent customer who hired Evergreen to insulate wrote that the company agreed to remove and reinstall new clapboard, but used crown staplers that split and cracked pieces, left cracked boards on the house instead of using the customer's spare stock, and left a mess inside. A recent Google reviewer said boards were broken and nailed back in, drip caps above the windows were dented, and at least 180 linear feet of clapboard will need to be replaced. A local news site, penbaypilot.com, has reported the company being named a top insulation rebate contractor in Maine.
“Evergreen Home Performance named top insulation rebate contractor in Maine”
Very professional. Helpful. Project was completed on time and at the price quoted. Would strongly recommend for insulation work,
Very pleased with the work Evergreen did on our crawlspace - including encapsulation, insulation and dehumidification. Especially Hannah, the sales consultant, and Richard, the owner. Richard was very helpful in addressing issues from the initial encapsulation work. All in all, good work.
We hired Evergreen to insulate our home after spending two summers re siding it ourselves. They guaranteed they could cleanly remove and reinstall the new clapboard and agreed to replace bad pieces using our leftover stack. Instead, their work was terrible and insanely sloppy. Rather than properly renailing the siding, they used crown staplers, which split and cracked numerous pieces. Instead of replacing the damaged clapboards with our extra stock, they left cracked pieces on the house. The damage is so severe that I now have to replace an entire side of my house. They left a huge mess inside our home for us to clean up as well. Their guarantee meant nothing. The lack of care and resulting damage are completely unacceptable. Avoid this company they are awful.
Absolutely destroyed newly installed siding on our house after claiming they had a carpenter on their crew who could remove clapboard and replace it "no problem." They broke boards and then nailed the broken boards back in, left giant tear holes where they removed nails, dented drip caps above our windows, and chipped the bottoms of clapboards with either a hammer or crowbar. Every piece of clapboard they touched needs to be replaced. Some pieces of clapboard are 12 feet long with splits running down their entire length, and they just threw extra nails in instead of replacing what they damaged or notifying us of what happened. At the time the work was being performed we informed the "carpenter" that we had spare painted clapboard available to use if the above mention occurred (further saving them money for damage they caused). Despite all of the extra nails thrown into our house the siding is still comically loose. At minimum 180 linear feet of clapboard has been damaged and will need to be replaced. As the co-owner of a plumbing business that takes great pride in a job well done, and clear honest communication with our customers we consider this type of work to be wildly unprofessional and predatory. We would much rather have had them tell us they couldn't do instead of making false claims and extremely overselling the skill of their onsite "carpenter." Due to the fact that I was recovering from full Achilles tendon reconstruction surgery at the time the installation was being performed they extent of the damage the company did to our home was not known until I was able to get back on a ladder again. I will not recommend this company to any of our customers and strongly advice others to stay away.
Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. I have never had a quieter, cleaner, or more polite crew working on anything in my home. The work has not only made the house warmer, but it keeps the second floor cooler even in 90 degree heat. I highly recommend them.
