An A+ from the Better Business Bureau and a customer complaint about a fence that blew down — Flynn Fence's public record pulls in two directions at once. The Stoneham, Massachusetts fence contractor is a sole proprietorship that the BBB says started in 2003 and runs with five employees. It is not BBB accredited, which is a choice rather than a mark against it; the A+ grade is the bureau's own scoring, and the BBB is explicit that customer reviews don't feed that letter. The one piece of customer feedback on that page is negative. A reviewer described a section of newly installed fence coming down in the wind and said weeks of calls and texts went unanswered. That is a single voice, but it is specific about both the work and the follow-up, and it is the only homeowner account attached to the business. So there is not much here yet either way — one directory profile, one complaint, and no independent body of reviews to weigh it against. Fencing-only contractors are exempt from Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration under MGL c.142A, so the absence of a registration is normal for this trade and says nothing about them. Worth a call if you want a long-established local shop and are willing to do your own diligence. Ask for addresses of recent installs you can look at, get the warranty on wind and post failures in writing, and settle up front who you call and how fast they answer if something moves.
