Let Steve Do It Fences is a one-man-and-his-grandson operation out of Lowell, and the reason it shows up in so many searches is speed: reviewers describe getting a quote the same day they call and a finished fence within a week, often after larger fence companies never called them back at all. One homeowner needed just a 20-foot section and a gate — small enough that a couple of bigger outfits either ignored the emails or quoted a high price — and Steve came out the first day, gave a fair number, and finished in a few hours. The write-ups keep circling the same specifics: a leaning stockade fence with missing pickets fixed in one visit, a 200-foot chain-link job with five gates finished in a day, a split-rail fence replaced within a week after Steve walked the owner through the options. Steve is frequently credited with going past the original ask — adding latches to dog-proof a yard, repairing a stone wall alongside a new fence, driving out to advise a customer over the phone without charging for the trip. Google shows 4.8 stars from 220 ratings and the Better Business Bureau grades the business A+. A couple of accounts are worth knowing about before booking. In a 2024 review, a customer said a set of double gates Steve installed came out sagging, and that a follow-up visit to fix it — driving extra screws into the plastic corner brackets — cracked one of the brackets instead of solving it. Separately, a 2025 review accused Steve of raising his price and being rude after seeing the reviewer's skin color; it's a single account with no corroborating complaint in the record, but a serious one to be aware of. For a straightforward repair or a small, oddly-shaped job the bigger fence companies won't prioritize, Steve is the name that keeps coming up — just get the scope and price confirmed in writing up front.
I highly recommend Steve and his team. He is professional, fair with his pricing, communicates openly and does a great job. I will use him again for any future fencing needs.
It’s hard to find someone you can trust for home repairs, but Steve was excellent. My stockade fence was leaning, missing pickets, and needed a full section replaced. He showed up when he said he would and fixed everything quickly and efficiently. The quality of work is top-notch and the fence looks great again. I’m very happy with the results and would definitely hire him again!
Awesome experience from start to finish. Steve was very transparent and did a great job with my repair work needed. Thank you Steve I appreciate it!!
Portion of my fence fell down on a recent Friday due to a rain and wind storm. I called Steve and requested a quote. He was very quick to respond with a reasonable price, and was able to get the job completed almost immediately. He was professional, receptive, and efficient. Couldn’t be happier with the work! If you have a fence issue, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Steve!
I contacted Steve when an accident happened which destroyed some boards in a section of my vinyl fencing. I was concerned because it was such a small job that no one would want to do the repair. Steve contacted me right away and provided a reasonable fair price and repaired it quickly. I recommend him if you are looking for an honest professional operation to fix your fencing. Thanks again Steve much appreciated
