Go Green Construction takes on renovation and new design projects, and the company says on its website that it works for residential and commercial customers and has been in business 17 years. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0624330, held by GO GREEN CONSTRUCTION LLC, is active on the state registry. A 2026 customer who hired the company on a friend's recommendation said their kitchen was gutted and renovated and their one-car garage was turned into a sunroom. That customer said the kitchen got granite countertops, a backsplash and new cherry wood cabinets, and praised John, the carpenter. A 2026 customer who hired Giovanni in 2024 for a large home renovation said the job went 8.5 months over, and put much of the delay on a cabinet maker their architectural designer recommended. That customer said the hardwood floors did not cure right and were peeling within a few weeks; Giovanni offered to re-do them, and the customer opted for a credit. They said the new flooring strips were roughly 3 1/4 inches wide against the original 2 1/4 inches, with not one conversation about that. They also said water burst across a newly wallpapered bathroom when the faucets were installed without another plumber visit, that bathroom hardware came loose within the first year, and that final payment was asked for before the job was done.
Hired Giovanni in 2024 for a large home renovation. Job went 8.5 months over. I wasn't going to write a review until recently discovered more issues. We hired a local Architectural Designer for the job to help w/ architectural requirements, oversight, plans/drawings & a lot of the delay was due to her cabinet maker she recommended but not all. The focus of this review is not about the delay. 1) Communication - gave him advance notice of our kitchen appliances delivery/install. He knew I did not work outside the home so could get to house quickly. Did he call or text me to say the install wasn't going well? Nope. Since he wasn't responsible for installing (the vendor was) it wasn't his responsibility to call me. When rec'd our kitchen hood his response was, "you're going to install that, right?" Simply because it wasn't an average stock hood. The contract stated installation of kitchen hood regardless of manufacturer. 2) Hardwood flooring - He hired Terry Korth Hardwood Flooring for the sanding/staining. The floors did not cure right. We had peeling w/in a few weeks on both the original and the new. Mr. Korth returned w/ his vendor as was told he "tried something new on us." Giovanni offered to re-do them but we had already moved back into the house (after being out for 7 months) so we'd have to move everything out again and we were worried our brand new kitchen appliances could get damaged so opted for a credit. We just installed hardwoods on the 2nd floor. When the new master bedroom/closet was done I noticed one stain was lighter than Giovann's job. So when the new guys asked me what stain color do you want the upstairs I was confused. They said, "well you have two different stains in your house?" The left side should have been stained to match the 1st floor not the closets. So now when you stand outside the master bath you see two different stains. Also under Giovanni's purview they didn't even install the same size hardwood flooring strips. The original hardwoods are 2 & 1/4" approx wide and they installed 3 & 1/4" approx. Not one conversation about that. Also, we now have an awkward support pillar in our basement below our first floor because Giovanni said his hardwood flooring installer demanded it or he wouldn't insure the job. No conversation about that. It wasn't in the drawings submitted to the town. Giovanni didn't offer to pay for a structural engineer to say whether it was necessary or not just that "well, if you take it down your floors might dip." 3) Electrician-Would berate/yell at his assistants, even fired one in my presence. We paid extra for a new additional subpanel, paid for extra electrical to change out fixtures & to this day cannot run my main dishwasher & 2nd dishwasher drawer (have 3 kids-lots of water bottles) at the same time (2 were always part of the plan). Cannot run a countertop blender & dishwasher at the same time. 4) Lack of care to details (not the job overall) - Giovanni/AD didn't want to pay for an additional plumber visit to install the bathroom faucets correctly so they took matters into their own hands resulting in water exploding all over the newly wallpapered bathroom including all the finishes/tile. I was sitting downstairs at my computer and all of the sudden water came dripping through the ceiling onto my new (albeit peeling up) hardwood floors. I ran upstairs to see Giovanni trying to stop the water spraying everywhere. He said the architectural designer told him to do it. Little things like bathroom hardware (bathrobe hooks, toilet paper holders, bath towel rods already came loose w/in first year, shower tile caulking already peeling off). Handyman confirmed cheap anchors used. 5) Asked for final payment before job was done. I often bought the crew lunch, gave cash gifts. Was happy to. We never ONCE asked to see his receipts/where our money was going. Perhaps my expectations ran high but my experience shared in this review shows the issues were greater than that.
We hired Go Green on the recommendation of a friend and we weren’t disappointed. We had our kitchen totally gutted and renovated. We also had our 1 car garage turned into a sunroom. For the kitchen we had installed granite countertops, backsplash for all the counter area and new cherry wood cabinets. The cabinets are some of the finest I have ever seen. The new tile floor and backsplash were put in by expert solid craftsmen. The finish work for the windows and baseboard were top notch. John, the carpenter is one of the most accomplished I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I’m very happy with our decision to work with Gjovalin and Go Green.
Amazing! Go see his work!
