Old School Contracting is a Waterford, Connecticut general contractor, and in a September 2026 Google review a customer with water damage in a mud room wrote that Jim came out the next day, gave an honest assessment without trying to upsell, and then came back the following day with one of his men; they had the room leak-free just before a storm. In September 2026 a reviewer wrote that a roof needed replacing two years earlier after a leak damaged an upstairs bathroom; Jim came right over, and three days later they had a new roof and the bathroom replaced, with Jim's crew described as professional, neat and clean. In August 2026 a customer wrote that they used the company for a bathroom renovation and then an addition, and will keep using the company. In October 2025 a customer wrote that Jim and his team resided their house in Waterford and were there every day until the job was done, and another October 2025 reviewer said Jim and crew tarped the house, covered the bushes and did the whole roof in one day. In June 2025 a customer wrote that Jim was at the house within two hours of the estimate request and back the next day with materials and a work plan; with painters, an electrician and a carpenter in a small space, the job was completed within four days. In September 2025 a customer wrote of working with Jim and his crew to remodel a basement room and make structural repairs to a deck, and an August 2025 reviewer had the downstairs windows replaced and a deteriorating shed upgraded, adding that they can get delayed due to other projects but did meet the schedule. In September 2025 a one-star reviewer described a very disorganized crew that took months to finish a job quoted at two to three weeks, with incorrect measurements leading to delays and do-overs on backsplash and cabinetry. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0670927, is active with the state, held by Old School Contracting LLC. The company holds an A+ with the BBB and is accredited there, and carries 4.6 stars from 15 Google ratings and 4.8 from 6 on Angi.
Had some issues with water damage in my mud room. I was planning to do the work myself but thought best to call a professional. Jim came out the next day, looked at things and gave an honest assessment. Didn’t try to upsell me and told me what needed done. Asked him to do more than he suggested for peace of mind and he and one of his men came out the next day. They got me right just before the storm this past weekend and we were leak free. Recommend Old School if you are looking for an honest and cost effective job!
My roof needed to be replaced 2 years ago but we were worried about our exotic plants that grow around the house because of the roof leak my upstairs bathroom had severe water damage I called multiple contractors Jim was the only one that came right over three days later we had a new roof bathroom replaced miraculously not one of our prized plants were damaged Jim's crew were professional neat and clean if you are looking to get your job done right the first time and on time I highly recommend old school construction
We used them for a bathroom renovation and then an addition after years of looking around and thinking renovations would be out of our price range. Everyone who has worked on our home has been so nice and flexible. The work has come out even better than we imagined. We will continue to be using them for future projects. Very happy with the results. Good, hardworking, honest people, great results, and the price is right!
Great work for a fair price. Quick, flexible scheduling as well. Highly recommended!
Professional and hard working. Showed up and worked hard to complete my project.
