Goddards Painting & Construction

Not long ago we experience a heating malfunction at our home in N. Reading. It resulted in considerable damage to our lower level. To put it back together required carpentry, plaster work , insulation, and a lot of painting. I hoped to find a local company who could do most of the work, using their own employees. I had never used Goddard's before, but over the years had heard some good things about them. The end result is I couldn't be happier with my choice. I feel very lucky to have found them. From the time Richard Goddard ( the owner) came by to look at the job, things could not have gone smoother. He got the estimate out the next day and we agreed to what I felt was a very fair price. He followed that up by starting the job quickly and then scheduling and supervising his own employees to complete 85% of the project. They handled everything but the plumbing, electrical, and carpeting. As the job went along we decided to have other things done in other rooms. Richard worked those things right into the schedule while they were there. Also, we changed paint colors a couple of times. And again, Richard just rolled with the punches. Importantly, we were very comfortable with the people in his crews in our home, and their work was outstanding. I just can't say enough about Richard and his crew. Here we are in 2020, and again could not be happier with their work. Everything good about them continues on. I needed some deck work done. Richard got back to me quickly and looked at it right away. He said it could get to it in about a week. We really didn’t talk total cost as I knew much of it was labor, and we weren’t sure what we’d find as deck was pulled apart. I trusted him to be fair based on our previous dealings. Sure enough his crew showed up in a week, and completed the job in a day. Richard came by twice that day to check how things were going. Everything went perfect, and as I expected, the total cost was very fair. Another great experience - Thank You Richard Another Update 7/25. Another outstanding job by Richard and his crew. This job involved interior painting, replacing interior doors, and general carpentry. Their attention to detail was amazing. We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.

We had our bathroon done about 13 years ago. Total gut job. Shaw Contruction subbed out the painting work to Goddard's. On the day painting was to start, two kids (looking about 17 years old), started putting buckets and tools on the brand new tile. No drop cloths down or nothing. I told them how the tile was expensive and asked them not to put their tools directly on the tile. I asked if they needed some drop cloths and that I had some that they could use. They said they would take care of tile and put drop cloths down. I came back from work at the end of the day and there were paint splatters all over the floor. After a few years, the ceiling paint started to crack. I thought the fan wasn't powerful enough so I got one that had a CFM that was a room 3x my bathroom size. Fast forward to current day its 100x worse now. Half the ceiling is peeling away. I'm guessing the kids didn't use primer before putting on the ceiling paint. Never again. I am giving 2 starts because the trim and door paint and wall paint looked really good.

These guys damaged my car during a job I hired them for. The owner of the company told me to take it up with his worker and sue his worker, otherwise I could get lost. Do not recommend.

Wife got cat-called by a group of workers on our street. Unprofessional and creepy. Speaks to the character of the employees.
