Call on a Wednesday and there is a fair chance someone is painting by Friday. A November 2024 customer inquired midweek, had Mike start on Friday and the job finished by Sunday; a July 2026 customer got an estimate the same day he called and, when rain washed out an outside job, was on the schedule the next morning. Golsmith Painting is Rey's company, based in Fitchburg. Its site says it has painted interiors and exteriors for homes and businesses across Massachusetts and New Hampshire since 2016, and names Fitchburg, Framingham and Boston among the places it works. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 207571, is active. The written accounts run from 2015 to 2026: 5★ across 75 Google ratings, 4.8 from 16 on Thumbtack and 5.0 from 7 on Houzz. A 2017 Thumbtack customer described a place left wrecked by a tenant that Rey painted throughout, patching walls and fixing windows and doors. A March 2018 Houzz reviewer, living out of town, had the front porch, stairs, back deck and porch ceiling done at his mother's house before it went on the market. What the newer reviews keep circling back to is prep. A January 2026 customer had walls left rough with old wallpaper paste skim-coated and sanded into a surface he could paint himself. A March 2026 review came from someone burned by a previous painter: Ray and Ryan, they wrote, fixed everything the last painter had messed up. Exteriors get the same order of operations — a July 2025 customer described scraping, priming and painting, and a May 2025 one had peeling paint scraped off a mid-century house, eaves and all. The work also runs past a roller and a brush. A July 2026 customer said the crew did some handyman work alongside the indoor painting; on a June 2025 family-room project Rey brought in a carpenter to build a feature wall; a September 2023 customer had new interior trim sanded, stained and polyurethaned to match much older stained walls. So be explicit about scope when the quote is written. On price, a May 2025 customer came out of a free quote happy with the number, and a January 2026 customer called the pricing extremely reasonable. A straightforward call for repainting where the surface needs work first — old paste, peeling clapboard, another painter's mistakes. Pin down in the estimate whether trim, carpentry or handyman extras are included, and ask Rey what color he would put on it: a May 2026 customer took his suggestion of a modern blue and loved the result.
