Sean Mindes's name is in nearly every review, and the same thing keeps following it: he tells you what is happening. Across almost forty accounts from 2017 to 2025 on Houzz, Angi, HomeAdvisor and Thumbtack, customers describe daily updates, schedule changes flagged before they happen, and questions answered the same day. The work spans the whole range — kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, decks and porches, siding, and at least one house built from the ground up. Houzz lists licence number CS-064759 for the company, which is the directory's own listing rather than a checked registration. The specifics hold their weight. In a 2025 review a customer had a bathroom remodelled, said the quote was adjusted fairly as items were added and dropped, and named Larry as the foreman who chased down the details. Another 2025 customer had a deck rebuilt over a rubber-membrane garage roof and said the crew protected the membrane throughout. A third resurfaced a 32-year-old deck in Trex with PVC railings and made a point that the company pulled the town building permit. A 2024 kitchen client in an intergenerational household described being walked through cabinet, flooring and lighting options with the pros and cons of each. Reaching further back, a 2020 customer had 500 square feet of unfinished basement turned into a family room on budget after firing a cheaper bidder, and another had a house in Haverhill built from the ground up. The sharp exception is a December 2023 review, rated half a star. That customer wrote that the job was not completed as contracted, and that when they raised the deficiencies the follow-up turned belligerent and sarcastic enough that they blocked the number. The platform numbers sit close together: 4.9 across 17 on Houzz, 4.8 across 35 on Thumbtack, and 4.7 across 30 on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, which publish the same listing. A good fit for a whole-room remodel, an addition or a deck where you want a single point of contact and frequent updates — that is what the accounts consistently describe. Put the scope and the finish schedule in the contract, and agree in writing how punch-list items get closed out after the final invoice.
I hired Handy & Some for a bathroom remodel. I received a quote quickly from Sean and he communicated very promptly through the entire process. His price was reasonable and he adjusted it fairly for additions and subtractions that we made. His subcontractors were reliable and everyone was pleasant and considerate while working in the house. Larry, who acted as foreman on the job, was great to work with and always going the extra mile to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. Job was completed on schedule and with high quality! Hire them if you have a chance!
The team was very professional and went above and beyond by doing extra repairs not originally requested. My deck project was over a roof covered with rubber to prevent leaks in the garage. The team carefully made sure the rubber roofing was not damaged in any way. Well done. I would hire this firm for any project.
We had a 32 year old deck with good underlying structure but badly in need of resurfacing. We wanted to go with a low maintenance Trex product and White pvc railing. Handy and some quote was competive and work on deck was superlative. Finished Deck looked better than original deck ever did with white pvc lattice surround and framing. Team was good to deal with and commucation was excellent. Project got town building permit which gave us more confidence, with Handy and Some handling the process. I have a vacation home in Maine with 2 decks and would have no hesitation hiring them again if they would travel that far and the price was competitive.
Sean and his team were GREAT!!! Seanâ s communication was outstanding! He always took the time to explain how and why something was being done. We are very pleased with the work that was done.
We have worked with a number of contractors over the years. Sean and his team were outstanding and we would highly recommend them. They were always very professional, communicative, reliable, clear about costs, very patient answering questions and attentive to finding the best solutions.
