Ace Handyman Services Essex County North

Ace Handyman Services Essex County North works out of Salem doing the small, single-task jobs a lot of contractors turn down — a stuck door, a broken screen, hanging curtains, patching a wall before a repaint — and the same handful of names keep showing up in reviews for it: Todd, Max, Scott, Nina and Kieran, praised again and again for showing up on time and leaving a clean job site. The company is family-owned, drawing on the same family's long-running Manchester Hardware and Winer Bros Ace Hardware stores nearby, and describes itself as backed by a one-year warranty on completed work across the North Shore from Beverly to Gloucester. A Salem-area Reddit thread recommends the company by name, tracing the recommendation back to that same Winer Bros connection. The recent run of reviews, from March through August 2026, is entirely positive — ten straight, with jobs ranging from a fireplace removal that left the wall looking untouched to routine painting and repair calls. Reach further back and the pattern holds: in a 2025 review, a customer described a basement floor rebuild after water damage that came in on time and, they said, reasonably priced; another 2025 review credited Todd with installing grab bars for an elderly relative within a week of the request. Two 2025 reviews are the real exceptions worth weighing. One described a roughly $2,000 job replacing four bedroom doors and installing a stair railing that came back, in the customer's account, with punched and unrepaired wall holes and a railing that was unsanded and unstable. Another accused the company of billing for two workers on a job where, the reviewer said, only one showed up. Both are specific complaints, not vague pile-ons, and worth weighing against the much larger run of reviews naming the same crew favorably. Ace fits an odds-and-ends punch list — several small fixes handled in one visit — better than it fits a single big-ticket remodel. For a larger job like the door-and-railing work, it's worth putting the finish details and expected crew size in writing before work starts.
