This is the call for the running to-do list: doors that won’t close, rotted trim, damaged siding, loose tiles, a plumbing fix, water-damage repairs. On Google, Mr. Handyman of South Essex County has 586 ratings averaging 4.9, and the recent reviews read like a steady stream of small-to-mid-size home fixes handled in one visit or with a clear plan for what comes next. The company works out of Peabody, and its BBB page shows an A+ grade and accreditation. The pattern in recent jobs is range. In June alone, customers wrote about Hardie siding repair with paint and added flashing, a pocket door put back on track, seasonal awning service, and water-damage repairs; in May and April they mentioned exterior door installation in an older house, window-trim rot repair, closet-door adjustments, loose bathroom tile repair, screen replacement, and a plumbing fix completed in under an hour. Across those reviews, the same points come up: technicians arrive on time, explain options, work through punch lists efficiently, and clean up before leaving. Several customers also mention being given economical solutions instead of a bigger repair than needed, like adjusting closet doors rather than replacing tracks. The depth is not just a good month. There are 65 reviews in the last six months with one negative, and the longer review history stretches from 2015 to 2026 across five sources, which is the kind of volume that makes a pattern more believable than a couple of fresh five-stars. The third-party picture lines up too: Google sits at 4.9 stars from 586 ratings, the BBB lists 5.0 stars, and the aggregate sentiment score is strongly positive at 0.78. The thing to ask about before booking is scope. People praise this company for a wide mix of repairs and light renovation work, but the examples are mostly handyman-style jobs rather than full room rebuilds. There is also one recent 1-star Google complaint alleging high prices, lack of permits, and poor safety practices, while the rest of the recent review flow is strongly positive, so it is worth confirming in advance whether your project needs permits and exactly how pricing will be handled. It looks like the right fit for homeowners who need a dependable crew for varied repair lists, exterior fixes, and post-damage punch work more than a ground-up kitchen or bath overhaul. Before you book, spell out the job list, ask whether it will be handled as handyman work or a larger remodel, and confirm any permit responsibility for work that goes beyond simple repairs.

Paul came out to replace some damaged Hardy siding. He did an excellent job. He painted and replaced the boards then added some flashing to prevent the issue from recurring. He was professional and very efficient. The job was completed in two hours. I will definitely use Mr. Handyman again.
