Ethan Riley started Handy Hub five years ago, and the jobs his Concord neighbors describe are the ordinary list of things that need doing: leaves cleared, mulch spread, gutters emptied, a steep Thoreau Hills driveway snow-blown all winter, two awkward window AC units wrestled into place, boxes carried from an attic down to a cellar with a load taken off to Goodwill. The company works out of Baker Avenue in Concord and says it covers Concord, Carlisle, Acton, Boxborough, Sudbury, Lincoln, Wellesley, Lexington, Newton, Weston and Dover, with landscaping and hardscaping, snow removal, commercial grounds management and some interior remodeling. Ethan reports OSHA 10 and 30 certification. Google shows a 4.8 across 28 ratings. Winter is where customers are most emphatic. A December 2025 customer said his father's steep driveway in Thoreau Hills had been cleared carefully for a couple of years running. In February 2025 a customer whose snow blower died got several options back quickly and said the work went beyond what they expected. In April 2026 another wrote that through one of the toughest winters they had known, the crew answered even last-minute calls. A January 2024 customer went out of his way to tell neighbors he had found someone who clears snow with a blower rather than a plow. The green-season work gets the same reception: three days of weeding, edging and spreading mulch in October 2024; a spring cleanup in April 2024 the customer called the best money they had spent on their yard in years; gutters cleared of debris as promised in December 2024 at a price they called reasonable; and in August 2025 a customer who wanted clearing, edging and mulch said Ethan listened and came back with several options. The one hard complaint is about a plow job and what followed it. In April 2026 a customer wrote that they were charged nearly $200 for what they called a mediocre plow job, and said the experience was the worst they had had with any home services provider. A June 2026 customer, while giving five stars for the mowing, offered the piece of feedback that sits next to it: they would like replies to messages to come faster. So settle the winter arrangement in writing before the first storm — what triggers a visit, what each visit costs, how it gets billed, and who you call when a driveway is still under snow. For lawn care, seasonal cleanups, mulch, gutters and snow around Concord, Handy Hub is a strong call for ongoing work.
Ethan and his crew are helpful, respectful, and hard workers. I had Andy mow my lawn recently, and I was impressed with the quality of his work. My only feedback is that I would like to get responses to communications sooner. However, their work is good, and it is nice to support industrious young people.
Ethan‘s Crew did a great job cleaning up all my leaves yesterday. The place looks so much better. The guys were very polite and respectful.
Ethan’s team was exceptional this winter season. Despite one of the toughest winters we’ve experienced, they were always responsive even on last-minute calls. We truly appreciate their dedication and reliability in helping us through it. We’ll definitely be working with him again this season.
I am honestly shocked that nearly all the reviews for the Handy Hub are five stars, since my experience with them was probably the worst I’ve ever had with any kind of home services provider. The tldr is that they charged me nearly $200 for a mediocre plow job, continued to send me marketing texts for months despite my repeated requests they stop—I literally had to block Ethan’s number—and tried to invoice me for services I didn’t request. I hired Ethan to plow my driveway once last year and paid extra for priority service to make sure it would be plowed by the time I returned home. When I arrived, it was obvious that he had come to plow before it had stopped snowing, as there were still a few inches of snow covering the driveway. Unfortunately it rained later that day and then got very cold, which meant the snow turned to slush and then froze. The result was that I paid nearly $200 to have my driveway turned into a thick sheet of ice that didn’t melt for two weeks. I let Ethan know privately that I found the plowing unsatisfactory, and he claimed it wasn’t his responsibility to make sure the driveway was not icy. I pointed out that the problem was caused by his plowing my driveway before it had stopped snowing—no amount of salting the driveway would have done the job after that. After some back and forth, he offered a discount on future services, but at no point did he offer even a partial refund or acknowledge that the service he provided was subpar. I was prepared to just forget about the whole thing, but then to add insult to injury, Ethan continued to send me marketing texts for months, even after I had told him politely but in no uncertain terms that I was not interested in using his services again. I literally had to block his number because he ignored my repeated requests to stop texting me. Then, this winter he sent me an invoice for plowing completely out of the blue. I engaged his services only once in February 2025 and have not reached out since, so why he is sending me an invoice is totally beyond me. His company then called me in April to solicit, even though I have made it SO clear I am not interested in their services. At this point the unwanted contact is starting to feel like harassment. Avoid at all costs—Handy Hub is pushy, unprofessional, and provides mediocre service.
Ethan and his crew have provided snow blowing/snow clearing services for my father in Concord (Thoreau Hills) for the last couple of years and they have been exceptional. My father has a very steep driveway that requires extra care and they have done a fantastic job for him. Ethan is also great to work with - very responsive and professional. I would highly recommend this company.
