Handyman Connection of South Shore, based in Hanover, handles the odd jobs a homeowner can't easily line up a specialist for — a door that won't latch, a deck board rotted through, a mailbox knocked loose by a plow. The company sends a named craftsman to each job, and its reviewers write about that person specifically — Kevin, Tom, Jeff, Zach, Chris — down to the owner, Dan Edwards, personally reaching out on at least one recent job. It holds an A+ grade as a Better Business Bureau accredited business, and on Google it runs 4.8★ across 350 ratings. Speed is the throughline. One reviewer, writing in February 2026, had a balcony door assessed the same day and fixed the next; another describes three separate jobs handled in a single visit that same February. A May 2026 review says it took just a day or two to get out and quote a drywall job. That recent stretch — a dozen reviews in the last six months, only one negative — leans carpentry-heavy: a custom barn window with glass inlays repaired in September 2025, an outdoor staircase handrail extended and rotted siding and trim patched, both in November 2025. Painting comes up too — a bathroom-and-kitchen repaint in March 2026, and exterior trim, shutters and doors redone in June 2025 — alongside a January 2026 Angi review describing an electrical outlet-and-switch repair. What to know before booking: a handful of older reviews describe jobs that didn't fully land. An August 2025 review said a new deadbolt was left hitting the strike plate with no adjustment offered; a January 2025 review said a grab bar was later called unsafe by a physical therapist. A December 2022 Angi review said a tile job was outside the owner's own expertise — he told the customer he wasn't a tile layer — and three follow-up visits didn't resolve it. A March 2024 review described a leaking tub drain that took a second visit to correctly diagnose. And an October 2024 review said the company went quiet for hours after a job it couldn't finish — moving a 300-lb built-in appliance — leaving the new unit on the kitchen floor. For a routine repair with a clear scope — a stuck door, patchy siding, a rotted deck board — the assigned-craftsman model and the quick turnaround are what keep customers calling back. For anything closer to a specialty trade job — tile, larger installs — it's worth asking who specifically is doing the work and their background in that trade before booking.
Paul Barry has been my handyman for a long time. Great guy, works hard and is super pleasant. Highly recommend
Greg did an awesome job on the work he did on my home
I am happy to have found your company. Have used your services many times. From start to finish. Freindly, exceptional work ethics. I will continue to be a patron of Handyman.
We were able to get an estimate within a day or two of reaching out and availablity was flexible. Everyone I spoke with was extremely helpful and took the time to answer any questions we had throughout the process. We were happy with the final drywall work Grellan completed. We got quotes from several companies; Handyman Connection was the best and got the work done in half the time others quoted. A smooth experience and we would definitely use the company again in the future.
I don't write many negative reviews as I know how damaging it can be for a company, however my experience with this company was so egregious that I needed to share. And from my dealings with the owner Dan, I've realized he doesn't particularly value customer satisfaction anyway. We hired this company to paint our newly remodeled kitchen and hallway/laundry area. The painter, who goes by Clark, came out and assessed the job and we got a quote the same day. He was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. We scheduled the job to start a couple of days later. We appreciated the quick turnaround. But that was the extent of the positive. What an absolute nightmare it became. Some of the walls had brand new sheetrock and were already plastered and sanded. Some areas had existing walls with very dark paint which we were painting over in an off white. They did not prime the walls. In fact, you could see the dark coming through in some areas. On the new walls, they kept putting putty on them and then didn't sand them smooth, even though we kept pointing this out. They actually made the walls worse! They got black trim paint on our new hardwood floors. This was not even close to a professional job. My eight-year-old seriously could have done better. When we complained and refused to pay them the balance, the owner Dan came out to look but thought we were "exaggerating". He sent the same painter back to "fix" the issues. We were hopeful that he would. But most of the time he was here he spent in his van DRINKING. After my husband thought he smelled alcohol on him, we noticed he had a Buzzball alcoholic drink sitting right on his dropcloth in our kitchen. You can't make this stuff up! And the pictures speak for themselves, which I will post. So now we are left with having to pay another contractor to redo the walls and/or put up backsplash to cover up the damage they did. Not to mention fixing the damage they did to our floors. And there were other issues, too many to list. I communicated all of this to Dan, but he didn't care. I found him to be very rude with absolutely no people skills. We gave him the opportunity to fix this, and it got even worse. He did not even seem to care that his worker was drinking in my home on the job, which is probably why it came out so bad. The bottom-line is don't walk, RUN from this company.
