Harland Electric is a family-run electrical contractor that has been trading since 1996 and works out of Harvard with a long-standing Littleton address. Bill Harland, Jr., a firefighter and EMT with the Littleton Fire Department, started it in March 1996; his brother Andy joined in 2001, earned his master's licence in 2007, and bought the business from Bill in April 2024. The state registry lists Massachusetts electrician licence 21030 as active in Andrew S Harland's own name, which is the owner of record - a credential that checks out rather than one merely advertised. The work homeowners describe is ordinary residential electrical: panel replacements, service upgrades, undercounter and recessed lighting, ceiling fixtures and chandeliers, GFCI and breaker faults, baseboard heaters, pool and hot tub wiring, and standby generators, for which the company is an authorized Generac servicing dealer. What stands out across the written record is the crew. Reviewers name the same pairs year after year - Tom and Ryan, Kevin and Derek, Jeremy and Jacob, Hugo and Tom - and describe them cleaning up, demonstrating what they installed, and working around children. In a December 2022 review a homeowner said the crew spotted an outdoor flood light that a previous electrician had declared fine and identified it as a fire hazard, replaced the light and wiring, and then told them unprompted that they had overpaid. A 2018 reviewer described the owner arriving himself when a replacement baseboard heater turned out to have a mislabelled wiring diagram. Speed cuts both ways. A 2018 reviewer said the company made the extra effort to come the same day when smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were shut off, and did not charge the emergency fees other companies do; another the same year said a small job was fitted into the same-day schedule. But a 2020 reviewer, while rating them five stars, said the one drawback is that calls sometimes take a day or two to return, and a 2018 reviewer said it took a while to get service scheduled - though they put that down to the company being busy because it is good. One thing worth reading correctly: the company appears in a law firm's list of construction disputes as the plaintiff, Harland Electric, Inc. v. Spitz, a 2019 collection case it brought against a house flipper who did not pay for completed work. That is the company chasing a debt, not a complaint against it. Angi publishes 4.9 from 130 ratings and the Better Business Bureau has accredited the business since 2006 with an A+ grade. The caution is age rather than content: nineteen of the twenty-six readable accounts predate the last five years, so ask for a recent reference on whatever you are hiring for, and confirm the licence number with the state.
“to consider, such as getting gas connection, running electric connection. You might also need to increase size of gas meter (no charge by gas company). Also need to decide on what size generator you would need. Best way to proceed is to contact an installer. I highly recommend Harland Electric.”

Installed as expected
Tom and Ryan worked quickly and efficiently, cleaned up well.
Ryan and Tom arrived promptly, performed an exceptional job on replacing my undercounter lighting, as-well as repairing a ceiling fixture. Cleaned up everything thoroughly and made sure to demonstrate the new lighting settings so I was comfortable with them. Terrific job all-around and would highly recommend.
We had a list of items that needed to be completed (driveways lamps posts/lighting, cathedral ceiling fan, various fixtures, etc.) and a couple of more involved projects we were thinking of doing, like a hot tub installation. Harland Electric was responsive, prompt, courteous and professional throughout the entire process—from initial contact, estimate and work. They itemized each of the projects so that we could pick and choose the work that needed to be done, and were helpful in detailing the complexities of certain projects and weighing the pros and cons of having electrical work done. During the course of coming to the house and knocking every item off of our list (which took 1.2 days worth of work/time), they also alerted us to an electrical fire hazard for an outdoor flood light that another electrician from another previous company just left and said was okay. They replaced the entire light and wiring and now it looks great the way it illuminates our side yard! We even overpaid at the end of the project and they immediately let us know! They are scheduled to return in the spring to install a pool heater and we have no doubt they will do a great job. Overall, great service, highly ethical company and good value overall. Highly recommend!
Tom & Ryan were prompt, professional and patient! I really appreciated them taking the time to wait while I completed my task! Thank you again! Richard Ayer Ma
