HGM Industries is a Groveland roofing and gutter company, owned by Louis Vazquez, that does most of its permitted work in Marblehead — eight of its fourteen filings are in that town, nearly all asphalt shingle strip-and-replace jobs in the $4,600 to $10,400 range, plus carpentry repairs to railings, steps and supports on Hawkes Street in 2022. The reputation is the problem, and it is recent. In a June 2025 review a homeowner described a roofing project that ran through months of delay and was never finished: materials sat on the roof until some of them blew into neighbouring yards, the company came back to collect what had scattered, and a deposit the customer was told would be returned minus $500 never arrived. That is a specific, checkable account of an abandoned job and an unreturned deposit, and it is the most recent thing anyone has written about this company. The counterweight is thin. One other review exists, a September 2022 one-liner calling an asphalt shingle repair reliable, prompt and fairly priced. That is the entire published record: two reviews across three sites, and Angi and HomeAdvisor publish the same pair twice over. The 2025 reviewer's own words point to more feedback existing elsewhere — she wrote that her first job matched "the other positive reviews you see online" and her second matched the negative ones — so a fuller picture likely sits on platforms not captured here. One Marblehead permit is worth noting alongside that: a 2022 carpentry repair job on Hawkes Street was filed twice, and the residential filing is marked suspended while the commercial one shows complete. On credentials, BuildZoom lists Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration 183748 as active, issued in November 2025 and checked by the directory in April 2026. That is the directory's own check, not a state confirmation, and roofing-only work is exempt from HIC registration in Massachusetts anyway — so the registration is a plus rather than a requirement here. Verify it with the Office of Consumer Affairs before hiring. If you are getting roof quotes on the North Shore, this company clearly does the work and does it locally. Given the 2025 account, insist on a written schedule with a completion date, a small deposit tied to material delivery, and clear terms on what happens to your money if the job stalls.

Roof. My roofing project was plagued with delays and ultimately it was never completed. My first experience with this company was great and aligned with the other positive reviews you see online, however, the second experience is exactly like the negative reviews you find online. After finally giving up on the job being completed, I asked for the materials to be taken down off my roof, where they had been sitting for months. This was actually the final straw as roofing materials had off my roof and out into the neighborhood. HGM came out to retrieve what had flown into the nearby yards. I requested for my deposit to be returned. HGM said they'd I return my deposit, minus $500, but they never did.
