Twelve trees cut down, and a bill $1,600 under another tree service's quote: that is how a recent Google customer described hiring Hoppes Tree Service, adding that the workers were respectful to the homeowner and to each other. The company describes itself as a Midcoast Maine tree service doing tree removal, pruning and stump grinding, says it has been in business for 10 years, and lists Camden, Rockland, Rockport, St. George, Thomaston, Warren and Union as its service area. In a 2026 review, a customer said the Hoppe crew took out about a dozen trees and trimmed others on a cold January day, communicated along the way, cleaned up, and sent a final bill below the initial estimate. A 2026 customer said they called ahead to make sure the owners were home and cleaned up all of the debris before leaving. In a 2025 review, a customer said Mr Hoppe helped decide what needed to come down near a power line without overcutting, and that the property was left with no damage. A 2024 Reddit commenter in r/maine recommended Hoppes tree service in Thomaston and said they had used them in the past. A recent customer said they placed an order for tree-length firewood in April with the father, called in October about delivery and price, was given the son's phone number, and the son said he was never given the order.
