Horizon Homes sells home energy upgrades, and its BBB profile describes weatherization and heat pump installation, including insulation, air sealing and the installation of heat pumps, windows and doors. On its website, the company describes itself as family-owned and says that since 2006 it has helped over 2,500 Maine families cut their energy bills. The service area it lists runs from Westbrook and Portland out to Brunswick, Freeport, Standish and Cape Elizabeth. Google shows 4.8 stars from 71 ratings. A Google customer says the workers arrived on time, cleaned up completely and finished in half the time shown in their estimate, then billed only for actual time rather than the estimated cost. A Google customer says they sent the right guys to represent the company. A Google customer says the tech was over 20 minutes late, spent about 15 minutes on a quick visual inspection, and sent what they called a massively overinflated quote a few days later. That customer says Horizon will only do energy tests once a customer has engaged with them for the full cost of the project, and advises working with an energy auditor who will do tests and give a baseline first.
