A May 2026 customer had a cape-style house turned into a custom home — a major addition and renovation that, they wrote, came out better than they had imagined. That is the scale I.S. Hager Building & Remodeling works at: additions, whole-house renovations, kitchens and baths, and new construction, run out of Plymouth with Norwell in its stated service area. The company says Ian, its owner, started as a teenage laborer and has been at the trade more than 20 years, growing what began as small side jobs into residential and commercial construction. Two customers described meeting him at the start: a April 2025 reviewer wrote that the first visit included Ian to go over the project and timeline, and an October 2024 customer taking on a large interior renovation of an unusually designed house said he was thorough in their first meeting. Older houses are part of the work. In a September 2025 review, a customer whose 80-year-old house got a remodel plus a master suite addition said the unexpected issues that came up were handled quickly. A July 2025 customer wrote that the team built something other contractors had told them was not possible. Its Better Business Bureau grade is an A, and Google shows a 5.0 average across 8 ratings. Timing is the thing to pin down. A January 2025 customer called it a good experience overall but said the job ran a bit longer than expected. If the project is an addition, a whole-house renovation, or a kitchen and bath handled together, this is a reasonable fit — particularly on an older home where surprises are likely behind the walls. Ask for a written schedule with milestones, and agree up front how a change order gets priced when something unexpected turns up.
IS Hager just completed a major home addition and renovation for us. They took our cape cod style home and transformed it into a beautiful custom home. The finished project came out even better than we imagined. The IS Hager team was honest, responsive and just overall easy to work with. From the initial meeting with Ian to the final inspection Ian was a professional and earned our trust to work with. Ian helped us bring our vision to life and was very helpful with design as well as consulting on changes that helped improve our renovation. The IS Hager team led by on site Supervisor/Project Manager Brian were easy to work with and communicate with during the project. You can tell they truly care about the quality of their work. Brian was always available the same day and made sure he got back to you before the end of day with updates. When you work with IS Hager you have access to the entire team to help bring your home renovation to life. I cannot thank them enough for helping us and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a home addition. The team did great work and made the process of a renovation feel smooth and organized.
Ian an his team at I.S. Hager Building and remodeling has quickly become my go-to resource for all my building and remodeling needs. From kitchens and bathrooms to whole house renovations and new construction, I.S. Hager has impressed me with their professionalism and communication
IS Hager did an existing remodel as well as a master suite edition on our house. The work was done exceptionally well, and the finished project was even better than expected. Some unexpected issues with remodeling an 80 year old house were handled quickly and professionally. The team also communicated very well and were all a pleasure to be around. We would highly recommend them for a my project.
The team at I.S. Hager Building & Remodeling demonstrated exceptional professionalism every step of the way, from initial consultation to final completion of the project. We had a vision that other contractors said wasn’t possible, and this team brought it to life—above and beyond. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence made our kitchen renovation a seamless and enjoyable experience.
We chose IS Hager after talking with a few other contractors. IS Hager was highly recommended by a friend who had used them to completely renovate the home they were moving into both inside and outside. Their initial visit included the owner Ian to review the project & timeline. There was a follow-up meeting to get more details with a project manager and one of the crew once our drawings were finished. We have done many renovations during our lifetime and we knew immediately they were the company we wanted to work with. We just needed to finalize the cost before the final decision. Our final decision came down to a reasonable cost, timeline and the fact that they had a dedicated Project Manager for the job. They also had an office manager to help facilitate the entire process. Everyone we worked with on their team was amazing, our project was challenging as they worked in difficult ocean facing conditions, 2 & 3 stories high throughout the winter. We had extremely large slider doors that needed to go up 3 stories, handled without an issue as well as spiral staircase installation, which was far more complicated than spec'd out by the Manufacturer. The entire IS Hager Staff are proactive and cost effective problem solvers, which kept many items off our "worry list' and was much appreciated. The Staff had a "can do work ethic" throughout all phases of the project. The entire process from contract, billing, construction and project communication was 5 Star. The crew led by Program Manager Brian worked through all obstacles and were extremely professional. Brian was here just about every day making sure the crew knew what to do and we were kept informed of what the plan was for the day. Brian was always reachable by text or phone for any questions. We would highly recommend I.S. Hager for any home renovations as they are one of the best construction company we have ever used.
