Imperial/Worldwide is a Shrewsbury insulation contractor — thermal insulation is the single trade its industry listing carries — that also hangs seamless gutters and installs closet shelving on residential, multi-unit and commercial jobs. It says it has been at this since 1982; its BBB file, opened in 1992, dates the business to that year instead. The one customer account on file is a rough one. In January 2024 a homeowner wrote that after signing off on an estimate for a minor gutter repair — a section about eight feet long — it took more than eight months of chasing to get the work done, with repeated calls and emails to the sales rep going unanswered. Google sits at 3.3 stars across three ratings. Licensing is where a homeowner should slow down. The company lists home improvement contractor number 103956 on its own site, and the BBB page carries the same number. Checked against the Massachusetts registry, 103956 comes back expired — and recorded under a different name, Hill Companies. The BBB page also lists a construction supervisor number, CSSL-102802, from the Department of Public Safety; that is the bureau's listing rather than anything confirmed here. Its NAHB Research Center certification and CertainTeed partnership are likewise the company's own statements. If you're pricing insulation, this is a shop that has been in that trade a long time by its own account. Before signing, ask for a current home improvement contractor registration number and check it yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs, get start and completion dates written into the contract, and — going by the single review that exists — settle who picks up the phone when a small job stalls.
Horrible experience. Tried for over (8) months to have the work done after endorsing the estimate. We are talking very minor gutter repair; like a small 8' in length section. I called the Sales Rep multiple times and no response. I emailed the Sales Rep multiple times and no response. Called the office; they kept sending me to the Sales Rep's voicemail or took a message. Wait for it....still no response. So last month; I called again after I got water in my basement; which was why I was trying to have this very minor work done in the first place and they said they would send someone out. Now mind you; you think a company would schedule this work with the home owner so they could be paid at the competition of the work; right? So some random day they come over. Do not even make contact with me and perform the work and then leave. I also had another contractor onsite so it was not like on one was home. But they sure called and called and called for that minor gutter invoice payment. I heard from this company within a (2) week span; over the holidays mind you, at least 7-8 times whether it was a voicemail or email. The Sales Rep called me more after the work done looking for payment than he did in the 8 months trying to schedule the job. Don't waste your time or patience like I did.
