Intelligent Design & Build is a Needham general contractor whose name is now attached to one of Brookline's more serious construction failures. Brookline.News reported in October 2025 that the company was the general contractor at 50 Vernon St. in Brookline, where the roof and top two floors collapsed in February 2025. The developer's lawsuit alleges the company "failed to exercise due care in seeing to the completion of the work, in a workmanlike and professional manner, free of any defects in workmanship and materials," and a structural engineer's report described in that coverage found floor joists had been replaced incorrectly and were not properly supported. Those are a plaintiff's allegations and an engineer's findings as the outlet reported them, not a court's conclusion. What else is public is administrative. BuildZoom lists 48 permitted projects for the company, and a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #183434, which BuildZoom says it checked as active in April 2026 — that is BuildZoom's own record rather than a state confirmation. No customer has written publicly about hiring them, so there is nothing here about how an ordinary residential job with this firm goes.
