Sun Shore Construction is a Needham-based renovation contractor whose name across roughly four dozen Google reviews keeps circling back to one person: Eric (also called Mr. Zhang), described again and again as protecting floors and furniture before a tool comes out and walking customers through how to use and maintain whatever he just installed. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor license is active. Bathroom renovation is the core of the business — full gut jobs, walk-in-shower conversions, and half-bath-to-full-bath upgrades recur constantly, with reviewers singling out clean tile lines and careful work around uneven old floors and walls. A recent review describes a guest-bathroom-plus-upstairs-bathroom job finished well enough that the homeowners left a five-star Google review unprompted; in a 2024 review, a customer described a full two-bathroom gut renovation — demolition, tile, rewiring, and nearly every fixture replaced — as "no easy task" given the house's age. A smaller but recurring thread is Fotile range hood installation: reviewers across several years describe tricky ductwork routed cleanly and a post-install walkthrough on upkeep, and in a 2022 review one customer said the price beat two other contractors they'd quoted. Kitchen work shows up too — a 2024 review describes a full kitchen renovation down to the subfloor, with new tile, relocated outlets, and a custom-fit cabinet base. Beyond room remodels, in a 2025 review a homeowner described Eric installing a new main beam and lally-column footings, making repeat visits to resolve a foundation water issue, and picking up electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and drywall touch-ups along the way — consistent with the Certified General Contractor License Houzz lists for the business (a credential Houzz attributes to them, not independently verified here). There's no negative account anywhere in the record to weigh against this — 44 reviews running 2021 through mid-2026, all five stars, across Google and Houzz. Worth confirming in writing before a larger job: scope, materials, and timeline, the same paperwork several reviewers describe getting upfront.
Lara and I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for the incredible job you and your team did on our guest bathroom renovation and the smaller job in the upstairs bathroom. We are absolutely thrilled with the final result. Your professionalism, craftsmanship, and dedication to the project made the entire experience seamless. To show our appreciation, we just left a 5-star review on your Google business page so other homeowners know what fantastic work you do as well as the frictionless experience it was for what is usually a not great experience. Thank you both again for transforming our space! Best regards,
I recently had my bathroom completely remodeled by Sun Shore Construction and the results are absolutely amazing. Eric texted with updates throughout the project. They laid down drop cloths, sealed off the work area, and cleaned up every single day. The tile work is flawless, grout lines are perfect, and every fixture was installed with precision. Eric clearly takes pride in his work and treats every job like it’s his own house.
I had a very good experience with Sun Shore Construction and would recommend their service. Eric installed a Fotile range hood for us, which included drilling a hole for the exhaust and drilling holes on the kitchen cabinet for pipes that connect the range hood to the outlet. First thing they did was laying down a protective cover for the flooring and covering our appliances to protect them from dusts, follow by careful removal of existing microwave-style range hood. The whole installation process took about two hours, and it was very nicely and professionally done. The range hood made a huge difference in terms of getting the cooking fumes out of the kitchen. I am very satisfied with the range hood, as well as the installation, and would definitely work together with Sun Shore Construction again for my future home renovation needs.
Eric and his team were superb. Great communication throughout the project, top-notch quality work from start to finish. Will definitely use Sun Shore Construction again.
Eric and his team did a great job on installing a new main beam to our house and took a great care in installing lally column footings, returning on several occasions to resolve pumping out water under the foundation. Finishing was completed and passing all inspections. Eric even made time to finish many additional tasks, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and sheet rock dry wall and painting. Great care was taken throughout the project. Thank you!
