Invisible Fence of Western MA installs underground pet-containment systems, with customer accounts describing buried cable, boundary flags, collars and dog training. Its website offers free estimates and lists a service area that includes Springfield, Longmeadow, Agawam, Westfield, Chicopee and surrounding towns. Google lists a 3.9-star average from 14 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ grade. A May 2026 customer praised Joe Fitzgerald and Evelyn after choosing a Boundary Plus system for an acre of property. The reviewer said Joe first explained the layout, installation, collars, training, costs and service contract. Joe and his team then buried the cable and placed flags in a few hours; he followed up with two training sessions and collar tuning. The customer said their dogs learned the routine in under two weeks and stayed within the boundary when people, animals or bicycles passed. A June 2026 reviewer objected to a $145 service-call charge for a brief visit to drop off an item, saying the charge was disclosed only when billed. The same customer complained about a $700 cost when adding a new dog and said they had to correct half the boundary flags. These are that customer's reported charges and experience. An August 2017 reviewer described three missed repair appointments without advance calls, followed by incorrectly placed flags and poorly buried wire. The customer said their older dog was shocked before reaching a flag and then became reluctant to use the driveway. They also reported that the fence broke again within three months and said they would have to pay another branch to fix it. That customer still praised the original fence, which they said had worked for 18 years. In a March 2019 review, another customer described an installation for two Boston Terriers when they had bought their house almost ten years earlier. They praised Joe's installation and training and said they planned to work with him again to train a new puppy.
Be prepared to pay $145 for them to visit your house for a 6 minute 'service call' to drop an item off (they wont yell you about this charge until they bill you). Packages look good until you have to pay $700 every time you adopt a new dog. The flags weren't even placed correctly and we had to fix half of them. This service is absolutely 100% not worth the cost they are soaking the customers for.
We are 100% satisfied with Joe Fitzgerald and Evelyn at Invisible Fence of Western, MA. We called and Joe came right out to see us and explain everything. Property fence layout, installation, driveway to road buried cable, flags, collars, training, cost and Service Contract. Joe and his team came up just after Easter and in just a few hours had the cable buried, flags up and our acre of property and dogs protected and trained. Joe followed up with two training sessions and collar tuning. In just under two weeks the dogs were completely trained for our long road hikes to leave the yard only with us by a collar off routine we trained them on. If they see someone or another animal, dog, deer, bicycle go by the Invisible Fence Boundary Plus System we chose keeps them contained. We highly recommend Joe Fitzgerald and Evelyn at Invisible Fence of Western MA.
When we bought our house almost 10 years ago we were looking for fencing option for my two Boston Terriers. We didn’t want a cumbersome fence so we looked Invisible Fence of Western, MA. Joe came out with one of his guys and had us up and running in no time. The training was outstanding. Now we have a new puppy and willl be working with Joe to help get him trained as well.
I would not go with this branch of invisible fence. I had my fence installed in 1999. It has been great for us, but my 9 y/o dog hasn't needed it in years (she doesn't leave the yard anymore). We got puppy and called this branch to get it fixed. He didn't show up for appointments 3 times. He didn't even call, it wasn't until he was so late and I called the office that I found out he wasn't coming. Then he finally shows up, and places the flags incorrectly and doesn't bury the wire very well. My older dog was traumatized because she got shocked before the flag, now she won't go down the driveway. If I want to take the dogs anywhere, I have to drive them out of the driveway. I also spent hours reflagging the yard after we paid them to do it. It has only been 3 months and the fence is broken again. The 71 lb puppy was out chasing my neighbors 10 pound dog. Now I have to pay a different branch to come in and fix it. Not at all pleased with the service. The fence itself is great though, it has been working for 18 years, 4 dogs.
My wife and I had never had a puppy before and were not sure about a pet fence for a golden retriever pup. Mr. Fitzgerald assured us he would be able to have her trained within 2-3 weeks. The installation was flawless and completed within 1 hour. Mr. Fitzgerald came back 4 times to make the sure the dog was trained completely. My dog is now 3 years old and we have had no issues to date. Great job Hidden Pet Fence Company.
